@DarthKribs That was ALVCC for me; the lines for Todd McFarlane & Kevin Eastman wrapped around the convention center twice. It was kind of funny. McFarlane's booth handlers were trying to move things along & he was having too much fun talking to people; asking why they chose (enter item here) for a signature or taking photos w/ cosplayers & kids. Same w/ Eastman, he was doing remarks (little turtle heads), taking pictures w/ kids in turtle costumes, having a good time.

Located between their booths was Robert Liefeld. He looked like he was pissed off at the world. *shrug*

I did like how they had the CBCS booth set up; it was right in the middle of the hall, along the main travel path. Submission/witness team was on point too; really nice guys.

I submitted one Expanded tier book (no pressing) on June 5th. I'm still in "Processing" purgatory, but it seems that June submissions will be actioned starting in November. Hopefully I get my book back before Christmas to conclude a half-year-long odyssey that I prepaid, in cash.

I will not submit again with CBCS until the TATs are back on time. Believe me, I want CBCS to fly high once again, give CGC real competition, and bring renewed value to our slabs. It is in all of our interests and for the good health of the hobby.

My book was received on July 13 and is still in processing. This makes it 14 weeks (16 if you include the two weeks from when it was dropped off with a CBCS rep at a Midwestern convention.)

Am I going to get this back at Christmas, or what? I'm sending a comic off to PGX to see what their turnaround is like. I already know CGC is a bigger nightmare.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think you'll be happier with PGX's Tats. They have a MUCH smaller work load because they suck.

Books must fly past grading since they aren't concerned with accuracy!!

Wow. Is PGX really that bad? I've heard some horror stories, but I've also heard from some who believe the negativity is mostly unwarranted.

My experience with CBCS has not been pleasant so far.

(And no, I'm not looking for anyone to sing another grading services praises here on CBCS own forum. I'm just genuinely a newbie to this and am really discouraged.)

I can't remember where, but I read about a recently cracked PGX slab that had undisclosed damage that clearly was not factored in their grade (unless they suck more than anyone thinks). I think it was a missing coupon, but might be wrong.
I'd also question the security of the comics in their "care".

By grading your comics ask yourself what you are buying. If you're buying TATs then right now CBCS is not for you. If you're buying the tightest grading and best slabs in the industry then you'll have to be patient until you get your books back.

Turn around Time = The time that the company takes to return the book to the consumer.

CGC Resale value is generally higher but they have prismatic effect similar to oil on water called Newton rings. Newton Rings occur in many but not all of their cases. Prices are higher for grading but Turnaround times are around 3 months.

CBCS considered the stricter/more accurate grading by many. In my opinion the best looking cases. However, turn around times are normally quoted as 3 months but have been more than double for a while.

PGX has the lowest resale and consumer confidence of the the three. Grading is not consistent. Multiple stories of books being regraded by other two and restoration or missing pages being discovered. Ugliest cases of all.

Moral of the story, you get what you pay for and should choose wisely. I use both CBCS and CGC but prefer CBCS.

Thanks for answering my questions. Sorry to be so ignorant of the terms and the companies - I'm grateful for your response. I'll just keep my fingers crossed I get my comic back before 2019.

So I just got back from LA ComicCon, CBCS had a table and I had chosen through the online submission form, to have my books delivered to me at the show. Even though my submission was fastpassed, I was really only hoping that the books would be done in time. I went by the booth on Friday and was informed "Oh they don;t deliver books to shows anymore..." He gave me the reasoning and it all totally makes sense, people say they are going, don't go or don't pick up, and then the books have to be shipped back to HQ on CBCS's dime. But if that is the case, then having the shows listed as delivery options - that should be removed. I am not butthurt, like I said I only had a small hope that the books would be done in time, but I wanted to let the other submitters know that even though they list this as an option, this is NOT an option.

I will call Monday an have the delivery address changed.

Hello again,

Just got a nice call from CBCS and got my delivery address changed. But I was also informed that standard waiting is 20 weeks and my FP should only take 10 weeks, that means they are still far behind. Instead of 7 weeks, I am looking at 10 weeks. So just passing on a TAT update.

@Scorpion Happy birthday!

Yeah, I consider "guesstimator" to be the accurate term, based on

I counted six weeks past the guesstimated completion date, which put me at 10/26/2018. Friday has come and gone, and I'm still "processing".

So its two days into week 20, or as my Invoice says, "Processed within 13 weeks after receipt."

Now, I've called & spoken w/ Jake twice, because my invoice is screwy. My invoice says books were received 6/28/18, which is incorrect. Books were submitted in person at Comicpalooza in Houston & arrived at CBCS on 5/30/18. Jake assured me my books were not lost in transition during the move, and that my books would go through the process w/ TAT based on the actual 5/30/18 date of receipt.

At this point, who knows? I have another 200 books I want to put on slab, but it does me no good if I submit them in November & won't get them back until 20XX.

Going to need a few more of these.

16 years of questionable incidents. This is not about "grading inconsistencies," it's about alleged insider grading, a pattern of questionable resto detection and authentication of suspect signatures.

It all started here.

Good recap here.

How PGX has remained in business is a mystery. Apparently, as long as a company "grades and slabs" and is inexpensive enough, some people will use them.

Megacon Orlando 2 books submitted on 5/26, invoice showed received on 5/31. 10/30 dashboard finally moved to grading and invoice shows as labels, about 22 weeks so far. Progress, can't wait to see what they ended up grading-wise!

I submitted some here in Denver on 5/23/18 and also more at Denver Comic Con at 6/26/18. Been in processing for a long time. I had some VSP books mixed in there. Just so tough to not check forums, my account and even my email every hour. haha

You guys are likely going to wait longer - I just got notified my April 28th submission (listed as returned in 13 weeks) is now being processed - no pressing or cleaning - just grading. To date, they received my book 26 weeks ago (6 months). I still have one they received 5/8/18 - I should receive it by Christmas........ I just don't know which year yet lol.
