Just got back from an exhausting first day of NYCC.

Crowd on a Thursday seemed a little larger than last year. It was good to see Artist Alley was moved out of the cramped musty carpeted room from last year to where the autograph section was the year before.

As a result of size, tons more artists were at the show. There were a few no shows ro the show for the week (Joe Mad). Some artists also changed the days they will arrive or were late to the show. You had a few legends, Chris Claremont and Michael Golden who were on time and I do not think either left there booth even to use the facilities.

A lot of ticket signings. Midtown did a great job in this regard with issuing tickets and lining people up. Dark Horse as well. Image on the other hand......

Today's signings:

Todd McFarlane Ticket:
Unbeknownst to quite a few, Todd was doing 2 signatures vs 1. He also brought along Jason Shawn Alexander and Mattina. I was lucky yo get 2 wristbands and lucikly have a 3rd book

Avengers Annual 10. Chris Claremont and Michael Golden signing it oldschool

Wasted a lot of time watching Erik Larsen sketch and got these two signed:

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
Just got home from day one.

I planned to get to the show at 8 but didn't make it until about 9:40 even with the cab ride.

Checked in with Image only to learn that exhibitors could not get wristbands from them this year. So no McFarlane or Kirkman for me from Image.

Both Marvel and Grafitti made vendors wait to get in line (15 and 30 minutes after show opening respectively.

Got everything I wanted from IDW and Marvel but will have to go back to Grafitti and Oni tomorrow morning.

After taking the time to bag and board all of the exclusives I ended up paying five bucks for a hot pretzel despite crossing the street before finding a vendor.

Spent most of the afternoon getting signatures. Hit or miss with some artists either not there yet or away from their booths.

I was so happy with the sketches I got from him at Terrificon that I asked Tim Seeley to do four more for me this weekend.

The only wristband I did get was for Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez. Awesome to finally meet Joe and get my Locke and Key books signed. I plan to bring more stuff for them and get another wristband tomorrow. Tomorrow's agenda includes Scott Campbell, Rob Liefeld, and Francesco Mattina.

I thought I saw you towards the end of the day in artist alley bagging a short box full of books. I was searching for someone and did not have enough time to do a double take.

@Hcanes I was the one walking around with the junior hand truck wearing the Rick and Morty shirt. I bagged and boarded a bunch of exclusives around 2PM at a table I found where people were eating food.

In artist alley I did shuffle books in my short box several times trying to organize them by artist (for those who were there).

Little disappointed that eBay didn’t issue a 15-20% off coupon this year like they did last year during NYC Comicon.

I can't imagine spending 4 days at a convention. I know many do. But Holy cow! Hope you had a great time...sounds like you did!

A thank you to @Hcanes for the blueprint on getting my McFarlane bracelet. And these are the spoils.

He even wrote Canada is great on that Canadian edition. I picked up a few books too but I have to find time to photograph them.

@domogotcomics glad I was able to help and that you got two signatures out of it!

Day 2-4 were a blur. That coupled with having to travel for work at 4am Monday morning took its toll, my body still hates me.

Friday I was able to get another McFarlane wristband as well as a Frank Miller wristband. Both did one signature and one free poster. Knowing that Jason Shawn Alexander and Mattina would be with the Toddfather, i was better prepared:

Here is the free poster:

Now for the free Miller pister (w/Alec Sinclair) and signing:

I had two wristbands so I got this signed as well and Joe Rubinstein on Sunday by chance. Claremont I was able to get Friday.

Saturday and Sunday were spent running around doing panels and shopping. Id get the occasional signature if the artists were around. Got to see the new Hellboy trailer....it was different. Has a darker tone, but I am holding off on my opinion for Harbour's Hellboy.

Got a few Artgerm signatures. Most were packaged and sent off in a hurry but these were some of the pictures I have.

1st Professional Artgerm work in a comic. Short story interior work.

Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba signed the new Umbrella Academy

Picked up some sketch commissions up on Sunday Mike Vasquez did a Mr Meeseeks as the Juggernaut and Mattina did a Zombie Hulk.

Those were the highlights. Got some more Rick and Morty comics signed as well as any Mattina book I had on me.

Next year will be a tough one to top.
