| The cover overhang is the reason. A dropped package could cause the comic to slam into the edge of the well. Since the cover has a huge overhang it runs the risk of being damaged. | ||

| That’s a heavy cardstock cover. Not easily damaged. One would need to throw it down a flight of stairs for the inner well to do any harm, and in that case any norman book would suffer | ||
