Carnage Mind Bomb...really?7326

In the last month or so I've noticed Carnage: Mind Bomb start showing up in force, and in really high sales $. Like, $400 territory for graded 9.8's...that's on par with ASM 361 9.8! GoCollect hasn't even had time to get the value updated. Now I hear it was a low print run, at least that's what those selling them claim. Right now there's 41 copies available on eBay. Low print run, perhaps, but "Hard to Find" is hardly an apt description. It seems these were well kept from new. The vast majority of available books are VF or better. I've also read reviews claiming it is really well written. There's plenty of well written books that remain dollar bin material. What is so great about it? I've found chatter on other sites talking about how it has blown up (punny) in popularity and price, but no explanation why. I'd like to get a copy for the PC, but not at ASM 361 prices. |

There was an interview by Donny Cates that while he was being asked about the Web Of Venom one shot he is releasing soon, he said the Carnage Mindbomb was the scariest book he read as a kid and told people to go out and pick up the book. So people think there is going to be a link between the two. Basically the Speculation Station is in full buzz because of that. Proceed with caution. |

Carnage: Mind Bomb & Carnage: It’s a Beautiful Life are fantastically written, adult stories. They are both trips into the psyche of Cletus Kassady; and it’s about what you would expect a book chronicling the thoughts of a serial killer to be. They were both limited run, and aren’t a common find at LCS. eBay has always been my go-to spot for them; but given the rumored Venom movie cameo, and all-but-confirmed role as the major villain in Venom 2, I expect the price to continue to rise. I’ve got both on slab already as a Venom/Carnage collector, so I’m pretty happy. If I come across raw’s in the future I’m going to hold them for convention season & see if I can get Woody Harrelson signature on those two & a NBK poster. |

Well at least the hype can be good for something; sounds like good reading material, think I’ll pick up a low grade run!

@kaptainmyke I'm a Venom/Carnage guy, and its a good horror story. As to my comment on signatures, I honestly think Woody Harrelson was a fantastic choice. I agreed with the original (Raimi years) assessment that Jim Carrey would make a decent Cletus Kassady after watching his performance in Number 23; then the Kick-Ass 2 media tour happened...RIP big-budget career. After that, I still had hope for a decent Carnage on the big screen. After his work on Gotham, Cameron Monaghan was a contender, but I didn't think Marvel or Sony would be willing to put someone so young in such a dark role. Jackie Earle Haley did well in Watchmen, and did his best w/ the script he had to work with in the Nightmare on Elm Street reboot; generally plays a quiet psycho, but would be neat to see if he could pull off manic crazy. Alan Tudyk can do manic, but I think the guy naturally brings humor to his roles, and I just can't see him playing Carnage without it being campy; he would have been a great choice for a Sam Raimi version. Michael Fassbender, because why *not* cast him in every villain role ever? So yeah, Carnage. ![]() |

I see. So its a hype train, based on recommendation. I'll pass unless I find one under $20. I do like some good Carnage. I look forward to Venom movie, really hoping Carnage is done right. I'm confident he'll be a big Venom 2 character. I wonder if the Acclaim video game promotional Maximum Carnage #1 will get more attention. That one is hard to find, and even harder in high grade. I haven't seen any new action on that one. |

Even more difficult to find are the promotional posters in good condition! They were shipped w/ Maximum Carnage & Separation Anxiety SNES & Genesis games. I've seen a couple of the Maximum Carnage posters on eBay, but I've only found a Sep-Anx poster once...and bought it. Its seen some wear; thumbtack holes in the corners; but I had it matted & framed up to cover the corner damage. The worst thing at this point is that even if you find MIB copies of the games, the posters have been folded for 20+ years, so the fold creases are a nightmare. |

Quote:Originally Posted by kaptainmyke I get that. It just seems like the carnage collectors are missing out on a rarer book with a really cool cover. An awareness issue perhaps. There’s always a few available, usually at least 1 high grade, but slow sales. Meanwhile Mindbombs are flying off the proverbial shelves at $100 a pop. |

I could kick my own butt for not getting that book. I used to see them at some cons years ago but I always thought it would stay a cheap book. Kinda like the Lethal Protector series. I saw them all the time and never thought they would be worth much or I would have gotten more copies.

6 raw copies sold for $89.99 or higher going back to Aug 31. Looks like the madness is slowing down as ebay gets saturated with copies for sale. Lots of them sitting now. I’m gonna pick up a NM copy when they get down to $20. I still want one, just not that bad. |
