Who do you use for pressing & cleaning?719

I have a few books that need to be pressed before I can get them graded. My Secret Wars #8 needs to be pressed and cleaned too. Some of the pages have light stains on them. How much do you normally pay?

Depending on the cause of the stain cleaning may not remove those

I pay $5-$25 depending on who I get to press my books. I have had my books pressed by Tony Starks and three local collectors who press books.

Show a pic of the stains. I use Absorene to clean mine.

I don't have the book with me. I'm just looking for some professional companies that can work some magic.

CFP Comics. Joe charges $10-20 to press books and dry cleaning is free

Avery Comic Pressing LLC (Josh Avery) has been the best pressing service ive used thusfar. Hero Restoration is also very good.

I have never had a book pursed before and it makes me nervous. I have a cgc graded 2.5 giant sized x-men 1 that I think will grade much better if I get it pressed. If I get over my fear of sending one of my favorite books. Will CFP forward it on to cbcs after the pressing?

Absolutely.
You may want to PM Joey with an image of your 2.5- He may have some insight as to whether a press can help or not.

And I totally recommend CFP as well. Joey turned my Hulk 181 from a 6.0 to a 7.0 after forwarding them to the graders.

Yes. Joe drives the books to CBCS and delivers them personally, so no fear of damage due to shipping

Joe took a serious non color breaking triple corner wrinkle out of my 1945 carnival comics #1. I would have given it a 7.0 in that shape. After pressing it came back a 9.2 highest graded.

Agreed on CFP; Joey has worked on literally hundreds of books for me, including books worth thousands of dollars. Never had a worry about my books with him.

Sent an email asking if they can do anything with this book. I'll let you know how things turn out if they work on it.

I press them myself, find it great fun to meet the challenge, improve the books tremendously for reading or grading, and improve the fold if needed. Have not figured out cleaning yet, seems more dangerous.

This is a book I plan to keep. Its actually in pretty good shape as far as pressing goes. I'd really like to get it cleaned up though. It seems like the price to have it done professionally is low enough that I would rather let them handle it.

Yes that one needs cleaning more than anything and the price is remarkably reasonable. I think I will use them some too.

That looks like foxing. I don't know if that can be cleaned up.

Looks like it to me. Whoever figures out how to get rid of foxing will be set for life.

Well that explains why they never clean up for me. Only my 2nd year of collecting, what a gas. Gotta learn foxing and the like

FYI: only took CFP an hour to respond to my email.
Didn't expect a response that fast, especially at night.

I went to CFP's website. Do they not offer cleaning?

From my FAQ page.

What is included in the price of the pressing?

For the regular tiers of service the following is included along with the pressing.

* Dry cleaning
* Spot and tacking iron work
* Full book press
* Quick restoration check. I do not claim to be an expert but I do catch most of what comes across my desk
* If the book needs to be pressed again it will be done at no additional cost
