Low CGC Census: What to Slab?7176

I don't believe this....and I know you don't care that I don't believe this. GAC private msg quote post Address this user
Does the CGC Census have a search capability outside of Title and Issue #?

If I wanted to find out:
- the lowest # of graded books
- in the silver age era
- key book (1st app. #1 etc.)

Could this search criteria be input and have results pulled or is the only way to check a books info is by searching title and issue?

Thanks!

Just look up a key book that nobody cares about and you’ll find your lowest number of graded

@GAC - Look at just about any DC title from the early SA. You’ll be surprised at how few high-grade issues are on the Census. Even in the early 1960’s, there might be no copies over 9.4.

A good start would be to check some of your favorite books on ebay for completed sales and existing sale offer listings. The lower the number, the lower the census. Search string should be "comic title #number cgc" and see how low you can go.

Then, go to gocollect website and actually see how many are on census but looking at the chart on the right and the very bottom numbers across the bottom row.

I already have a few in mind but I cannot share at this time for undisclosed reasons.

I question the accuracy of the census. In this age of CPR (Crack, Press, Re-slab), unless CGC gets the old label back, they don't remove it from the census, so in all probability, the same book could be counted or represented on the census several times. Based on prior discussions, it is a fact that some keep the old labels.

Never thought of that!!

The census is likely inflated but not sure how pervasive CPR is.

I know this to be true...I have known people who submitted copies of Hulk 1 over and over trying to score a higher grade cause they felt they got a lower grade than the book deserved...although you could as easily make the argument that yes, the census counts each new grading as a new copy, you can make two claims that might also help balance the equation.
First, the rate of reslabbing would be seem comparative to other similar value or key books ....if there have been ten hulks reslabbed it is likely a similar number were redone for (insert key issue of similar importance)
Second- the rate of loss and destruction of books within the census ...meaning due to storms, flooding, fires etc is not allowed for and would seem to lower the count on some of them although we might never know the full impact for certain.
