| I wanted to share this here to help protect my fellow collectors from the absolutely BRUTAL experience I just had with Forbidden Planet. I love this hobby, but stuff like this really gets me raging. I had planned to get these books triple signed at Fan Expo and graded by CBCS, but can't now because the books are complete garbage. I won't bore you with the nightmare of actually ordering from them (unless you want the story), but I think the images speak for themselves. These books are trashed. They were nicely packed in cardboard, and there was zero damage to the cardboard itself, so they were actually picked out and shipped like this. Their response was "we can offer you a refund if you pay shipping back (canada to UK), or you can keep them and we will refund 20%." If I am lucky, I could sell these for 20% of what I paid. They are absolutely the worst. No self-respecting dealer would be ok with sending books like this out. Theres more ticks than a bloody forest! The virgin metal book actually has raised wrinkles on it, which I have never seen before. Catwoman LITERALLY had a lightning bolt carved into it. They've completely screwed me for Fan Expo. CBCS, do you happen to ignore FP stupidity when you grade by any chance? Guess not eh.... Buyers beware out there, and spread the word.       |

| See I think they need to be held responsible for this crap. If nobody holds them to it, they can keep doing it. And then unaware collectors try to grow their lists, only to end up with crap like this. These books are garbage, and I will do everything I can to spread the word about this so they don't do it to other collectors. |

| I myself have had a terrible experience with them. When ASM 795 came out I rushed to get as many copies as I could but only Forbidden Planet had them for sale. I purchased 20 copies and the shipping was extremely high and the quote for the cost of shipping came like a month after ordering. I decided to pay as the book were already doing well in the aftermarket. They ship me 13 copies first and then 7 more are to be shipped at a later time. What a bunch of crap! I wouldn't recommend using them unless it would be a comic you can't find anywhere else for a low price. Are you based on the UK? Why did you choose to use them? | ||

| If the shipping cost back to them isnt astronomical I would absorb the cost on principle. I can't believe they knowingly sent you books like that. If they have a Facebook page, post these images and your story to it. Thanks for the heads up...this is PSA for sure. | ||

| @GAC I have actually been in contact with their customer service team, and they literally don't care. They offered 20% back, but man look at those books. I can't even sell them for 20% of what I paid. So the thing thats really got me pissed is that I emailed them before I bought anything, noting they have a bit of a reputation for sending shitty books, and to please make sure good copies were sent. They assured me that the books would be excellent, and they had never heard of such a problem. I am trying to build a collection that I can one day hand off to my coming-soon kids, and at Fan Expo I am seeing Jock, Capullo and Snyder, Finch, King, and a few others. I had planned to get these signed and graded and put away. Can't do that now. These are pretty much garbage. |

| @SpiderTim Man that's just brutal. They quoted me an absurd amount for shipping too, so I had a family member ship it over for me. Cost me less than half of what they quoted me, and I got it in Canada in 2 days. I chose them because I wanted the signed books by Jock. They had the Metal #1 variants, and the signed Batman #50. Apparently, though Jock was signing them as he was leaving, and threw the books out of a moving car. Only thing I can think of. |

| @mediaslave hopefully those books weren't too expensive even though it's not really the point of your experience. it sucks for sure. maybe we should start a thread in here...a warning type of thread of dealers like this. a thread that warns collectors of who to avoid and not buy from. a name with a quick description of why to avoid. Example: Forbidden Planet: No Quality Control. Ships out damaged books. |

| They came to about 100 pounds, or about $170 Canadian. So expensive enough for me to be pissed right off, especially considering their complete lack of empathy about the whole experience. I agree that a dealer thread would be helpful to collectors; thats a great idea. I know that I've read a few things now about Forbidden Planet being known for shipping garbage books. I should post the whole story about this too, it's really quite amazing. |

| Sorry to hear that. I have a couple of Star Wars variants they did, but I don't remember if I ordered them directly from FP or not. I had a situation with Red Hot Comics in the UK in late 2016, and I will say their customer service was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Full refund, including shipping. All I had asked them to do was file a claim with the Royal Mail, which they also initiated. | ||

| I ordered the action 1000 jock cover from them as they were going to have jock sign them. I got the virgin and trade dress set. Yes, they do not quote you a shipping price for overseas until it's ready to ship...but they don't charge you either until you confirm you're good with it. So I was ok with that. Where my experience turned south was they shipped the books in a horrible mailer...barely larger than the comics and basically just a couple pieces of cardboard slapped together. Not anywhere near the robustness of what companies like midtown, unknowncomicbooks and others here in the us do domestically. So of course the package took a blow to the corner and my comics arrived with a nice crease in them. I didn't contact them. Just ate it. I actually sold the virgin cover for the price of the two (a jock signature is worth the price I paid for the books) so I just left it at that. Figured I'm not doing business with them ever again. Never order a new comic from a comic shop over seas... |

| @mediaslave I haven't ordered from Forbidden Planet, but I share your pain on ComicXPosure. That guy is hot garbage; won't answer the phone, doesn't respond to e-mail, a complete lack of customer service. The only way I got the books I ordered from him was to file a fraudulent charge dispute with a credit card company; he finally shipped the books (months after they had been released) once the credit card company got involved. The guy had no intention of shipping anything until his ability to accept credit card payments was threatened. Not quite a scammer (he did eventually send the books), but very, very close. | ||

| So to all asking "what grade did they say it was" etc etc... Look, if you're ordering a custom car, you shouldn't have to ask if the goddam thing is missing doors or has scratches down the side. I wasn't ordering the latest Archie book. I ordered the limited edition, signed by the artist, higher value variant books. These are only something a collector would order, not some muppet off the street. As such, they should be in collector condition. End of story. I'm not saying bang-on 9.8s, but man, at least a 9.4. These would be lucky to be 8.5 or 9.0. Anyways, after blasting my story out to every corner I could think of, I contacted them again and moved my complaint up the chain. Finally I think they just gave up and refunded me what I asked. I only asked for a refund on the stuff that was garbage, nothing else. I should have asked for a refund on all of it, considering how much hassle it was and how much they screwed my plans over. Anyways, leave Forbidden Planet to the mouth-breathers. I have a new list of mail order spots I'm going to. |

| Just a last update to this... Fought with FP, and won. Full refund on all the books that were trash. To note though, I had to literally go full bore on all social networks, review websites and forums to get their attention. Still hands down the worst experience I have had ordering online, and I'd strongly advise collectors to stay far away from them if you are ordering comics. Maybe they won't screw up a stuffed animal or Pop figure order, but even that I'd be wary. |
