@dpiercy I like your Reading Pile reports. However I enjoyed your videos more and have not seen one from you in awhile.

I did look forward to the videos and wondering what was in the crock pot for dinner in the background. Also, didn't you have a theme song with guitar?

@BrianGreensnips @Drogio Thanks, guys! I liked doing the videos and I think, maybe, if I revisited the concept with a live chat it could stimulate more interest. I sometimes felt I was just getting loaded on camera and doing dumb things to try and be funny.

Want to know why I think reading The Walking Dead, these days, is like listening to a lot of Rolling Stones’ albums? Check out the latest issue of #TheReadingPile to find out the answer to this and other eternal questions. Is it worth your time? I think it is!

I see you gave batman who laughs a 3.5 out of 5. Have you found that title to be losing steam?

I always rate books quite dramatically, as I enjoy giving solid praise or ripping it a new @$$#*(€ if I find that the quality is weakening

@DJC_II - well, the 1st issue was awesome and then “the plan” is revealed in issue 3. Poisoning Gotham through tbe water system? That sucks. It was still a fun read, though, for reasons I mentioned. If it wasn’t Jock art, I might have been way more critical.

Thank you! Yes, worst plot ever.

To be honest, I'm a huge Jock fan. Got a commission done by him a few months ago. His work on Black Mirror is legend. His work on Wytches, nearly as good. This though, this is really bad for me.

I feel the same, issue 1, I thought it was an insane 9/10. So amped for issue 2, that when it came out, and the direction it took... I could rant for awhile on these 2 issues, but I actually stopped caring about the series, already! Are you going to stick it out? I'm honest when I say, I doubt I'll see the end, especially now that DC released the Year of the Villains, showcasing how The BWL will be a staple. So clearly, this mini won't have any real consequence.

There have been articles, there have been reviews, but what I think is the first ever “exclusive party summation” on Comicbookinvest is now live! This issue we are talking about the great Albatross Funnybooks 20th Anniversary celebration of Eric Powell’s seminal work The Goon. I hope you all will check it out at your earliest convenience. It was a splendid event:

The Reading Pile issue 26, where I pit two books against each other in a battle to the death, is now available. Which title do I like better: Conan the Barbarian or Savage Sword of Conan? You can find out by clicking the link in below.

@dpiercy Good job. I also read both books and have them both on the pull list. I enjoy both of them. Slight edge goes to Conan the Barbarian. I felt Ron Garney's art is lacking the details that I like to see in Conan stories. But overall they are both worth reading.

@BrianGreensnips yah, I agree. Jason Aaron’s title is a little better right now. Thanks for checking out the article. 🙏

@dpiercy Back in June of last year in your video you said you wanted to do a live stream, still up for that?

This guy @antoniofett reached out to me to join him on his Twitch stream to talk comics, but I'm webcamless and with two screaming children in control of my life - I can only imagine if you guys teamed up.

Let me know if this goes down, I can't miss it.
I'll crack open a Mud Shark Full Moon and throw some questions in the chat!!

@dpiercy Interesting mashup with the Punisher meets Rocky Horror kickstarter.

I appreciate the restrictions you put on your scores, I feel like most people would jump to 4.5s pretty quick, but you use a harsher approach grounded amongst all the books you've read. I like it.

I feel like you put a reserve on that 4.5-5 score range which means the issue has to be an absolute home-run "gold standard" for it to even come close, which is how it should be!

Of the books you mentioned this month, I think that Heroes in Crisis #8 has the best cover. Good use of negative space, scale, and shadows.

@comic_book_man - thanks. A 3.5 is an entertaining read, but there just has to be that extra “umph” to score higher for me. I’ve reviewed all those books before and I know when they’re stepping up.

There’s personal bias, too. Heroes in Crisis is a really excellently executed book; it’s just there are elements I find hokey or don’t like in some of the issues.

Tap Dance Killer was a cool read and Ted Sikora knows how to put a book together (a lot of indie titles I don’t care for). It’s just his Apama title is more my style of book. Definitely worth seeking out:

@dpiercy Great show!

As someone who wants to read more modern comics but gets caught up on investing in older books, your speculations that hit both aspects is really interesting to me. Keep it coming!
