I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user

I thought it was sandals, swords, and scantily clad women with swords.

A favorite short lived series back from the early 70's.

But wait, where's the scantly clad women? Hang on, here they are on the splash page as the story of our heroes opens...

@Foghorn_Sam - I seem to recall that The Crusty Bunkers inkers were associated with Neal Adams.

This issue came out at the beginning of the Bronze Age of comics and kicked off a slew of imitators of the Sandals, Swords, and Maidens in Distress genre.

Yes, this is true. They were a group of aspiring artists working as inkers for Neal Adams' and Dick Giordano's Continuity Studios from 1972-1977.
This title had an all-star cast of creative talent working on it. Hard to believe it only lasted five issues. I thoroughly enjoyed the title and I still have all five of my original issues from 1973.

Hard to believe we're still talking about something like this 45 years later. I was 13 at the time and really starting to expand my reading material. It was about this time I started reading the Bantam and Warner paperbacks of Doc Savage and the Avenger. They quickly became some of my favorite reads outside of comic books.
This story is one I'm really fond of.

@Foghorn_Sam - We must be twins that were born in the same year (1960) to different mothers. I loved reading those Bantam books. I had a bunch of the Avenger and a few Doc Savage. I also read most of the Edgar Rice Burroughs titles - John Carter of Mars, Carson of Venus, Pellucidar. I think most of my softcover books were damaged and thrown out when my basement flooded about 20 years ago. Thankfully my comics survived and I had french drains and a sump installed. A few softcovers did survive, anyone remember Gor?

I have about 20 of the books in the Gor series. I also have about 30 R. E. Howard books, including the two you pictured. Did you also read Blade?

They are neck and neck out of the gate.

Lots of entries with one vote but none with any more yet.

Pretty sure nothing good comes from politically charged comments.
