CBCS Graded

What was your 1st CBCS Slab?71

Collector CrocHntr private msg quote post Address this user
This is my only CBCS slab at this point, but I'm sure that will change.

Original owner and had it signed at Heroes Con many years ago:

Courtesy of Joeypost and aided by Steve, this was done in a week, and I have continued to use CBCS since then.
Outstanding service.

Well, I only have 4 so far, and they were all submitted at the same time. However, this was the first one on the form.

Action Comics #869 Beer Bottle Variant (recalled)

Sonic the Hedgehog #128 [2003] 9.8
Batman and Robin #16 [2013] 9.8

I sold my #169 for extra cash to get a Green Lantern 76 since then I have had several 76's and yet been able to replace the 169. I love this cover.

Mine was Tomb of Dracula #10, which subsequently sold for a very agreeable price. I've since had 2 dozen books slabbed by CBCS and I can't say enough good things about them. The service exceeds expectations at every level.

It might not be everybody's holy grail but it definitely was mine. At a year and a half sober, Iron Man 128 holds a special place in my heart! Iconic cover, powerful story, and my first CBCS Slab signed by Bob Layton (btw great guy!)

Thanks! I have owned it since 2000 or so, but had it restored a few years ago.

Submitted all of these at the same time.
I no longer have the ASM 361 or New Mutants 98 in 9.6.

What's the significance of the check mark about the 9.8 on this slab?

@TheKaptain This is from The_watcher on another thread
"Originally CBCS used a star to designate a book that looked better than its assigned grade, as has been mentioned. There was a dispute with NGC over the use of the "*", so CBCS began using a check mark to indicate the same thing. Hope this clears things up"

As discussed and answered in another thread, it denotes that it looks better than the assigned grade because of a flaw that is not perceptible without opening the slab. ie grades as 9.4 but looks like 9.6 or higher.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user

I'm not the person that had this encapsulated, but it is the first CBCS book owned by me.
Can't afford a Hulk #1, so I bought this Hulk #2..
