| I'm a huge fan of the character, so I'm willing to give the Venom movie a shot. What bothers me is that Riot is a terrible choice for initial villain; especially since the director seems hell-bent on giving him all of Carnage's best moments: ripping Venom's face off (Carnage Unleashed), the axe-arm sweep (mostly Maximum Carnage). It feels lazy. Even the EMT (who I assume is going to end up being Scream) doing the 3D fodder spikey projectile thing is using a Carnage move. I get it; they want to keep their powder dry on Carnage right away & (probably) work something out w/ Marvel to make the Maximum Carnage arc into a shared event movie. I would totally support that; except by giving Riot all of Carnage's best moments, they're turning him in to Red Riot. The only saving grace for Carnage at that point is Woody Harrelson; hopefully the studio will let him channel some of that ol’ Mickey Knox mojo w/ an R-rating. Maybe Marvel will play nice by keeping Iron Man in the shared Spidey-Verse & we can get a NBK cast reunion.  |

| I do not like Venom much. Never have. Too powerful for regular superheroes for my tastes. But knowing the general public and their bloodlust for gore. I think this will be a big hit. Now, answer me this. In this movie, Venom is a bad guy with superpowers, with no super-powered good guy to battle? Do I have that right? |
