Those still owned by Sony. Venom and basically all other spiderman characters other than the agreement made for Spidey / Aunt may to be in the MCU. | ||

@shrewbeer Sony is having some money troubles back home too; would not be surprised if they cut a deal w/ Disney to release their hold on the Spider-Man properties in exchange for giant paycheck. Big Sony took a $1.6 Billion dollar write-down on the Sony Pictures division in 2017; even with the profits from Spider-Man: Homecoming, they big profit drivers for the company were the PlayStation, Consumer Electronics, and Financial Services (Sony is also a bank in Japan, who knew?) departments. We'll see how it goes, but if Sony Pictures keeps bleeding money from the rest of the company, something's going to give, and Disney has the biggest checkbook & incentive to buy. |

I know its obscure. But I believe technically some Marvel characters may be in the Public Domain. Possibly anything out of renewal, pre-64 could be suspect... But nobody out there brave enough to challenge a legal battle with endless deep pockets. Ironic in how Disney in particular reaped most of their billions from PD properties... |

I'm sure Venom will reinvigorate them on the Super Hero movie line... I saw the latest trailer yesterday, I actually got pretty excited seeing the new footage (motorcycle chase, full head wrap, arguing with himself)... |
