What did I actually buy??6995

Will find out in a week or two what I actually bought!!

Normally don't go for coverless books but I thought I would give it a go for Giant Size X-Men #1

The description on the lot just said Giant Size X-Men #1/Coverless Copy, but the photos had 2 copies and Manthing #1.

Will I get all three or just the 1?? - will let you know!!

On the plus side, I bid like it was just 1 copy and got it for $120 - looks like gocollect has .05's at $300 - so a good buy no matter what

I steer clear of coverless comics, but they're still cool.

Very cool. I picked up a Ron Man coverless recently. Don’t think the character ever caught on.

I also normally steer clear but this book is starting to get out of my comfort range with 7's going for close to $1000.

They made a much more popular comic about a guy who irons clothes at a laundromat.
It's title was Iron Man.
Ron Man was cheesy.

GPA records a CGC graded coverless GS X-Men 1 CGC selling for $160 in April. A search on eBay for coverless GXM 1 finds a sale one month ago for $128.50 Go Collects $300 price sounds like BS.

Turns out there was only the 1 issue - which is ok because that is how I bid.

Now I never thought I would say this about a book with no cover....but mine is nicer than some of the others out there!!
Maybe I can see where Gocollect got their $300 figure from.

Mine - $120

July 30th Ebay for $185!!

Mine is for sure the 9.8 of coverless books!!!

@KatKomics Awesome win! I've (happily) resigned myself to buying coverless copies of major keys that will be out of my price point for a while. I've got a 0.3 Daredevil #1 and a 0.1 IH #181. At one point I had a coverless Avengers #4 but was able to sell it and upgrade to a copy with the cover (though I think it's detached). I was aiming to get a coverless Avengers #1 but even those are creeping out of my reach when I can find them.

Respect the coverless! I think a coverless x Men 1 for instance goes for around $700.

Does anybody else see the irony of this thread? Here is a discussion about spending hundreds of dollars on books with no covers and elsewhere on these boards you will see discussions about spending hundreds of dollars on covers with no care for the rest of the book.

a while back picked up a really beat up avengers #2 and the guy threw in a copy of #3. the front and back covers were in "ok" shape but there were kid drawings all over the inside. @dielinfinite had a great copy of #3 but with a detached cover that he was nice enough to part ways with (thank you again sir). another sweet marriage story. its not to sell or get graded, but to grace the comic book wall in the man cave.

It's rare for covers today to give the viewer any kind of idea what's happening inside.
Besides boobs, anyway.

The first comic back issue catalog I owned had three conditions available.

1) Complete
2) Coverless
3) Partial Cover.

There was no Good, Fine, and Mint.

Obviously there is a market for them, but I could never understand why. If a particular book was out of my price range I would concede to just not ever owning it. A coverless copy simply has no appeal what so ever to me personally, even it if were Free, not to mention dropping hundreds of dollars on it? I can certainly find a lot nicer high grade books to drop hundreds of dollars on. Sorry i just don't see the allure for these type of junk books missing their most visually iconic attribute.

I have seen some sellers have multiple comics in the photo, even though they are only selling 1. May be inexperience, may be laziness. Either way, that is a super clean looking cover-less, I wonder if it was removed intentionally?
