| Ive seen this on eBay for a very long time. my understanding is ashcan is what a publisher publishes when they want to be first to market for copyright purposes. this book is a 9.6 from 1939. this seems like it would/should be a very desirable book. curious as to why it hasnt sold yet despite the very high price tag. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.ca%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F122319959353 |

| A lot of watchers. Wonder how many ridiculous offers he’s gotten. $1.2 mil for flash, not sure he’s worth that much. | ||

| I think this is more of an item for a billionaire. After you shell out the 2 million for your Detective #27 & Action #1, there are still a lot of expensive cool Golden age comics that you'd want to own more. | ||

| I believe the current record sale for a FC#1 is about a half-million. There are very few of these available. This ashcan, I could see getting maybe double that. But then again, if you have a million to burn on a flash comic, whats another half? |

Ironically. I just saw a folder on my computer where I'd saved other scans of ashcan comics. Not mine of course..![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It should be noted for newer collectors, these are "real" ashcans. The word is tossed around with modern preview comics, but these are the real thing which spawned the word. |

| How many #1 AshCan issues of Flash Comics are there? I thought Mark Zaid owned it? | ||

| You would think that someone selling a million dollar comic book would take better photos and more of them. | ||

| And offer a free private courier service to deliver it. And a steak dinner to talk about it. I get that the ashcan is crazy rare, but I’d honestly rather have the colored production book. | ||

| I could be careful with Ashcans. Being black and white I could see someone with minimal skill set counterfeiting these. I had heard that many DC Ashcans were taken from the file of DC back I the 70's. The unicorn is Double-Action Comics #1, I have seen it. Yes it does exist. It was in a safety deposit box in Florida, and has recently been sold privately, if I recall. It is actually a cover swipe from Adventure Comics #41. I tried to get it years ago, but the seller estimated he could get at least 50K. I didn't have that kind of loose change. He also had a high grade of the Double-Action #2, but as I understand it there were at least 5 of those and he took the Ashcan and one of the #2's |

The current one on eBay being the earliest by beating out the two Fawcett Flash Comics by one month. Fwiw, I looked on Mark Zaid's website, and though he shows a few ashcans, Flash Comics is not one of them. |

| @earthshaker01 There was an DA #1 ashcan along with a DA #2 sold through CC a couple years ago. Was that the one you're thinking of? | ||
