What's "preview night?" I assume you need special tickets/passes to enter, but how does one acquire access? | ||

Quote:Originally Posted by DrogioPreview night is a "half-day" of sorts. The convention opens for 3 hours, 6pm-9pm, the night before the first official day of the show, which is Thursday. It started as a special night for 4-day pass holders (and volunteers) so it was lightly attended. Since then, Comic Con has monetized it somewhat so passes are available that include Preview Night, like a Saturday + Preview Night badge |

Didn’t take many pics yesterday, but my buddy did. I was too busy hunting for books. Here’s a few I did take: They built a house for “Castle Rock”, the Stephen King Centered show for Hulu. I’m mostly interested because Marc Bernardin wrote for it. We could do the tour thing yet.it wasn’t open yet on our way to the show. ![]() The line for our lanyards was 20x longer than it appears. This is no exaggeration. ![]() Cool Sideshow pieces. Couldn’t resist the alien head. ![]() I was able to preview the Black Widow figure I pre-ordered. She’ll be mine in roughly December. ![]() And lastly, my one major purchase from the show yesterday. ![]() |

"Finally caught a shot of Richard Evans at the Bedrock City booth..." I recently commented to a Bedrock City store manager that Richard Evans, "looks like Liefeld's older brother." Manager's response: "Those...those are fightin' words." ![]() In all seriousness, Bedrock City locations are on point; gotta give credit where its due, the man runs a nice set of shops. |

So far for me, no signings at the Arcana booth as of yet on Preview Night, Thursday, or Friday, but I did get some books signed by other people, bought some sketch books, hardbacks, and enamel pins (why? why not?), and t-shirts... no back issues for some reason! Had my toddler and mother-in-law with us on Wednesday and Thursday, which makes getting around a little tougher, but made due. Last year, toddler had a complete melt-down on Preview Night, but he did a LOT better this year. Two funny interactions for him on Thursday... 1. This is a copy and past from my Facebook: In the bathroom yesterday at #sdcc, changing Isaac... He sees a Batman in front of a mirror, zipping up his fly and adjusting his mask, making sure everything was on the up and up. "Hi Batman! Hi Batman!" Pleasant, higher voice, "Hi, how are you?" He waves at Isaac, who by this point is standing, pants up. Someone walks in, not dressed as Batman, and does his best Christian Bale, "I'm Batman," followed by several, "I'm Batman," impressions from several people, one of which was from the proper Batman, whose voice was suddenly deeper. So, Isaac met Batman in the bathroom.... He was very nice! There's a lesson for you, boys and girls - If you're good, you don't have to worry about the growly voiced Batman. Or, maybe if you catch him with his fly down. I haven't figured that out yet, but I don't plan to test it. 2. Saw a Stormtrooper and Princess Leia: He got REALLY excited (he's my kid). "Princess Mama! Stormtrooper! Princess Mama! Stormtrooper!" They both stopped, said hi, and waved. He put on a stormtrooper mask he had with him and started trading fist bumps - explosions with the stormtropper. Isaac will be three in September, and his fandoms are getting sorted out already. NICE! If you guys have a chance on the floor, go track down Humberto Ramos' booth, get some books signed, then head over to Edgar Delgado to get him to sign the same books, since he colored them. While you're there, check out his Ultraduck hardcover and get an enamel pin... Edgar is an amazing colorist, but also a great artist to boot, and his Ultraduck series is GREAT! I don't get paid to promote it. He's a friend, but I do believe in his work. ![]() Humberto Ramos sigs, Edgar Delgado sigs and Remarques: ![]() ![]() Terry Dodson Sigs. Last one is Terry Dodson (w/ remaque), Chris Claremont, and Todd Nauck. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Brian Kesinger on Groot #1 - Another guy you should check out... He's at 4613 / Baby Tattoo. He is SUPER talented if you're not familiar with him. His original art, commissions are TO DIE FOR. He did a little sketch for my son of Lil' Kylo with one of those coconut crazies from Moana (the ones who shoot darts - he created them). Look him up... He's a friend. ![]() Art Adams - Any second signatures you might see are Chris Claremont from a few weeks ago. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Art Adams limited print I bought from his booth... limited to 100. I wish I could have bought one of his remarqued ones. They were truly amazing, but out of my price range. ![]() My 1987 Art Adams X-Men poster I had him sign, ha ha... ![]() I also bought his sketch book, two from his wife, Joyce Chin, and an enamel pin... And, yes, he took credit cards. And, this is a hardback I bought from the Humanoids booth yesterday. Moebius!! Excited to read it. ![]() This isn't everything I've picked up, but pictures so far. Phew! |

Channeling Steve Marriott's comments before "I Don't Need No Doctor" on Humble Pie's Live at the Fillmore: We'll be heading back to Texas next week, but I want to tell you SDCC has been a gas this time, It's really been a gas. We're still in San Diego. We'll be here for a couple of more days before heading north to LA by rail on film related business. Then we'll be Amtraking back to Ft. Worth. I'll try to post a few more images to the board before then. Next up on the convention trail is Chicago Wizard. Hope to visit with even more boardies there (CBCS & CGC) there. ![]() ![]() |
