Clearly that person has no business handling paper collectibles of any sort.
Thanks for the name, now I know not to buy anything from him.

I've only had one bad experience (knocking on wood as we speak). Purchased a copy of ASM 238 on eBay, graded a 9.4 by CGC (old case). Seller put the slab in the bag it came in, taped a piece of cardboard to the front and back, put it in a bubble mailer envelope, and called it good. Needless to say the slab was ruined when it arrived. The only damage to the book itself was from a piece of the slab that fell down inside the slab and was wedged between the book and the slab. It created a very tiny dent in the front cover. Luckily, it will press out easy enough. The seller offered to replace it but truthfully I didn't completely trust him after that. He blamed he bad packaging on some app he was using to ship items he sold on eBay. I planned on cracking and resubmitting to CBCS anyway so I kept the book and sent it to CFP Comics to be pressed, cleaned, and submitted. The packaging job was just terrible. On a good note, I received a package today from a member here that was packaged excellently not to mention he gave me a great deal!

Everything you see in this picture is what was used to ship the book. Just awful.

It's funny. Every time I buy a slab to crack open and get signed it's shipped to be pretty much bomb proof. When it's one to keep, pretty much like yours above.

I guess I was "lucky" because I was going to crack it anyway. Only bad experience so far.

Wow, I've never had a problem buying from Anthony's store other than their not having a book I purchased once, but we swapped it for something else, NP.

I've bought roughly 50,000 or so comics on eBay since 1998.

Approximately half of them have had issues, but the vast, vast majority of the problem has been shipping damage.

Crunched corners are the bane of my existence.

The problem is, most people who buy and sell comics on eBay don't care, so saying "hey, dunce, why did you think shipping a bare comic in a manila envelope was going to protect the book?" was almost always a waste of time, and usually resulted in a fight with sellers who 1. didn't care, and 2. didn't HAVE to care.

I wish I had discovered pressing in, oh, 2000 or so...would have saved me a lot of headache, and potentially turned many duds into gems.

If I had a nickel for every time a seller has refused to take responsibility for their shoddy packing....I'd have, like, $1,000.

I've heard it all, from "no one's ever complained before" (as if this somehow absolves them, like saying "well, no one's ever hit your car before, so why do you care that I did it?" ) to "I've shipped XXXX amount of books, and never had a problem" (which, in reality, is either an outright lie, or, if true, because of the aforementioned not caring on the part of most comics buyers) to "how do I know you're not trying to scam a partial refund out of me?" (because I have sooooo many better things than to try and get $10 back because of your shatty packing?) to "it's not my fault. Take it up with the USPS" (which, of course, is totally untrue, in any sense, but especially legally.)

Well the newest slab in my collection came in today, a New 52 Batman #2 Jim Lee variant in 9.6. I have no idea if the seller is a member here, but it came mailed in a CBCS box, needless to say there wasn't a scratch on it.

My last comic before the one post above was Superior Spider-Man #1, and man I was livid. The book had been rolled up before, because the whole spin curves towards the back, ink had been rubbed off on another book, or board. Just... Ugh. We resolved the issue, and he admitted the other issue was just as bad and advertised it as NM. Just why?

Probably would have made it there about the if they just slapped a priority shipping label on the slab itself. Someone actually did this across the street and the book was shipped around made it to a few places before it became compromised.

never dealt with E-bay.But I swapped a River city copy of Battlefield 8 for 2 pre hero TTA issues that a CGC member had. I sandwiched the Battlefield between 2 pieces of cardboard then taped them together. Then rolled the package in bubble wrap before placing in a large envelope and shipped it certified mail so it required a signature. That was mailed from Australia to the United states. He did the same. And we both had no problems.Thats the difference between comic book collectors who love their books.Even ones they will never see again. To people just into selling comics for money

It seems like every time I buy books in a lot I have to request the cardboard sandwich. Otherwise, I'll get 50 loose books wrapped in bubble wrap and dropped loose in a box. Every now and then I'll get a box stuffed with newspaper instead of bubble wrap. The last guy that did that to me ruined a bunch of good books on a run I liked. He blamed USPS for poor handling. I didn't care what his excuse was. I asked for secure shipping and I was ignored. Refund was issued when I opened a case on eBay.

How about when you sell something, buyer changes his mind, and then refund the buyer who ships it back like it was garbage? That just happened to me this week. I think that I am giving up on selling electronics on eBay.
