I got my Chadwick Haverland commission in hand today! Thanks to @RyanHicks for setting everything up and keeping me in the loop through the whole process - very appreciated since it was my first commission. The scan is a little blurry because I left it in the plastic but it looks great.

Just got this back from a local guy, Phil McNulty. I asked for homages to Uncanny 168 and 173. They're on the front and back of the same blank.

I think you know where it needs to go.

Need some advice, have an opportunity to buy this, not 100% it's legit. Couple of reasons, the i in Kirby is dotted. I don't think I've ever seen that before. Cap just looks a little off. It would be through PayPal so I would be protected, but don't really want to tie up the money and time on something bogus. Just literally going through that on another drawing right now. If the Kirby is legit and I pass on it, having to break my leg off so I can kick my own ass will suck. What do you think

@Batman66

I'm by no means an expert on signatures. The handful of signatures I have in my collection, I obtained in person so I've never worried about having to authenticate legitimacy. Take what I have to say with a grain of salt.

It doesn't look right to me. The "jack" looks like there is a lot of hesitation in the writing and the J and A look closer than in the authenticated examples I looked at. There are some other issues as well but, Like I said, this isn't really an area I am well versed in.

I do have a few suggestions though.
Depending on how long you have before you need to decide on the purchase, you could:
1) contact the gallery that's listed in the stamp and see if they can give you any provenance on the item. The stamp means that the item would (should) have passed through them at some point. If it actually did, they should have a record.
2) contact the Kirby museum and see if they can give any insight, suggestions or leads.
https://kirbymuseum.org/

Hope this helps. If it turns out to be legit, I hope it winds up in your collection.

@VaComicsGuy I did look up the gallery to see if they did sell or consign the item. I didn't think of the museum, I try that as well, thanks for the input

To me it seems the art piece is authentic. And if that is an early very detailed watercolor sketch by Kirby, he probably took that extra time into the signature as well, which includes the dot.

@Batman66 I have never seen or heard of Kirby dotting his "i". Ask Jeremy Kirby, his grandson.
