I have the issue #1/4 printed on newsprint.

Grade? Or sell raw?

Doesn’t look like it’s selling for much.

Oh well. Paid $1 for it at the flea market.

I thought issue 0 (zero) was the first appearance.

The issue 0 (from archie) came out in 1993.

The issue 1 preview / promo came out in 1991 at some point. Not sure why the Key Collector app says the issue is the first appearance and not the preview of the issue.

So what's going to prevent someone from grabbing a copy of Justice League #33, and various other books that came out around that time, to pull out the insert and claim it's the preview copy when both copies are indistinguishable?

I saw the one in your original post, but is the newsprint copy the original print?

I just saw this. It offers a little clarity.

The real one from 1991 has a price on the lower left front corner. The promo comic has "ADVERTISEMENT" on every page and does not have a price on front cover. Easy to distinguish.

So it looks like there are 3 versions (ashcan, newsprint promo, and Mean Machine). I assume the newsprint promo would be the most common since they were included in a few DC comics in 1991. Eight newsprint copies sold for $70 in the last 30 days or so. Jeez, I guess it's time to start pulling inserts from Justice League #33, Detective Comics #639, and Superman #62. This is getting insane.
