Just added these two to the collection. Both are a bonus since they are Canadian Price Variants which are unicorns in fine to higher grade.

The tattooz insert in ASM is there fully intact.

I don't think you guys get the "newsstand" thing. The 80's don't count to a newsstand collector.

I didn’t want to be the one to say it, but yeah. There’s not typically any difficulty in finding newsstand editions of 80’s books. In my experience it’s mid-late 90’s and newer that get scarce.

Not all books from the 80s were created equal. Scarce no, but high grade it is hit or miss. From my personal experience, it took me a while to find Wolverine 1 limited series 9.2+

You can take a look on ebay and see that there may be one or two at a given time listed. One of those which always seems to be the absurd $2,000+ listing due to a litany of signatures.

I will not get into a NM- or better Wolverine 3, that black cover is tough and I have had no luck over the years.

Ain't that the truth. That's 100% the issue.

In terms of 80's Newsstands, Canadian variants are the true gems. Especially in high grade. Fortunately my mind and my wallet can't handle that rabbit hole.

+2

80s matter very much. Print run isnt everything. Those newsstand books were read heavily and 9.8s (aside from keys like wolvie #1 which people preserved) are extremely hard to find

I will not start collecting 80’s Canadian variants.

But being only an hour’s drive from Windsor Ontario I may be able to find some at local antique shops and yard sales...🤔

The Web of Spiderman looks to be close to a VF/NM. Picked this one up for $16

The ASM I paid a little over $75 and looks closer to VF.

I have seen a few slabbed 9.6+ Canadian Variants go for some crazy numbers.

Picked up a few of these during my travels and others were waiting on me when I got home.

A pair of New Mutants Canadian NS Variants

Another Canadian NS

And lastly,

@Studley_Dudley thanks! Paid a pretty penny but thought it was cool Todd McFarlane's son has an Ebay account where he gets his Dad to sign books for auction. The notes he does are a nice touch. The photos of Todd modeling the book are pretty funny. It's for the PC and I'll remember all the little touches.
