Question for those who sell on ComicLink...6405

Collector Darkga private msg quote post Address this user
ComicLink newbie question... I just sold a comic on ComicLink, but the email says that they will cut the check in 30 days! How long does it take for them to send you your money after the auction is over in real world experience? I'm a little spoiled with eBay's quick payment turnaround.

I've sold on Comiclink a number of times and it does, generally, take about a month.

That's always been one of the things I disliked about using ComicLink, although I've otherwise had good luck with them and will sell with them again.

IME it takes about a month with CL and Comic Connect.

Probbaly the same with MCS.

Consignment sites need to make sure that the book is delivered to the buyer, with no issues, before they release the payment.

That's my understanding, anyway.

Note that with me they do wire transfer. They charge $20 within US and $45 for international

I don't know about BIN type consignment on mycomicshop, because that's opaque, but with auction consignments they send a check when the buyer sends payment. At least that's what the website tells you.

For MCS - if you request the money to stay with them - they transferred the money to my account with them within 7 days for the one slab I sold

All three outfits mentioned move expeditiously to pay their consignors, from my experience, with a slight edge to Comic Link whose notification and disbursement system is the quickest of the three. Also, the most accurate. Any issues or questions all seem to be addressed, answered, and solved quicker than their immediate peers, their consigning customer service the best in the biz from my experience.

Hey Dark, I sent you a PM with my experiences with MCS and Comiclink. In regards to timeliness of payment, no competition in my experience, which is about $35k in sales between the two so far this year.

MCS is Way quicker to issue payment via check. I receive a check from them each week for my sales, and have never had to contact them looking for payment. Comiclink's payment arrived about 30 days after the sale, and I found myself emailing them regularly to see when payment could be expected.

I believe with both you can have your sales amounts credited to your account, but I'm not sure how timely that is.

Good luck, and try them both, and then there's ComicConnect also.

My Comic Shop is for sure the quickest to get payments out. Part of the reason for that though is they have weekly auctions. ComicLink is monthly.

My experience is only one person, but I have had two MCS sales - both auctions - where the item sold but the buyer never paid. Book had to be relisted. That has never happened on ComicLink.

This is true. On Link, you win, you pay, or if you don't pay, you'll never bid again.

On ebay, you win, maybe you pay, and if you don't pay, you're allowed to rinse and repeat ad infinitum.

This has been very helpful for me also. I want to try selling on COMICLINK. I've sold on MYCOMICSHOP and they sent me a check as soon as the buyer paid them.

4-5 years ago I consigned some books to comic connect to be auctioned, they had trouble collecting from the winner. So they diverted the problem to me and I did not get paid, took until September to get a final payment from there March auction. Never again.
