Anyone hear about this or can verify?6350

Collector RyanHicks private msg quote post Address this user
Saw this on one of the CGC Facebook groups; apparently this guy used to work for PGX and PGX fired everyone today. Has anyone heard about this or know anybody at PGX to verify?

Not looking to turn this thread into a PGX bashing...just want to know if its true and any insight. Thanks

Did they ever employ “professional” graders?

In the paid to do something = professional sense, sure. But in the genuine expert interpretation of the word? I’m not so sure.

Still, it’s terrible for the employees if this is true.

Be on the lookout for a new grading company really soon!
What a marketing strategy!
Post Fake news (like CNN) and people will think they are gone forever.
Secretly, they are just changing names (ownership?) and will employ all the old employees.
But they are under confidentiality clauses so they cant talk about the change!

I never knew it was anything other than a one or two man operation at best.

they had professional graders? now i feel bad for all the those times when i made fun of them. i mean, i am pretty sure they have a nice huge office instead of the basement they are grading their books in.

"New label, same low price, still sucking"

How about a company that sells comics that they grade themselves?
eBay Link

"Ownership gave no reasons for the termination..."

They're not required to in this State (Oregon). Hard to understand why it's still this way.

As long as they aren't hired at CBCS or CGC...

I don’t know. I’d love for the employees to get jobs with CGC or CBCS. No doubt they would be properly trained either way.

He is defending his story pretty strongly...seems fairly legit and not sure offhand what the motive would be if he is faking it. That's why i was hoping to get more info if anyone knew anything. I don't really care about PGX at all but if they fired their whole staff on the same day, something is up...

'Comic book white' must be a new shade of white? Look out Crayola...

Very sharper corners?

PGX's site , last I looked at it a few months back (out of curiosity), gave no listing of their staff whatsoever.

Just an address to ship books to, besides a phone and fax # and an email address.

I am still surprised that people would ever contemplate sending books to them, given their lack of transparency on even the most basic of elements.

Some people use them because TAT is fast and they are cheap.

Being new to the whole grading world, I took a look at CGC, their pricing, TAT, etc. And I immediately went looking for a competitor and found PGX. Cheaper, quicker TAT...if not for doing my due diligence and investigating a little deeper, I probably would have shipped my books to them none the wiser. Researching them is how I wound up here.

But didn't the TMNT book happen 4 years ago?! Also, I seem to remember a TMNT 1st/3rd print come up with CGC, too.

Now I’m concerned for the Collectors that currently have their books sitting in PGX’s basement.
