ElRay has a Firefly marathon going on today and tomorrow. The year or two that it was on, I was occupied by a self imposed pity party. I had never watched any episodes but always heard good things about it. So I figured I'd watch a few episodes. I'm enjoying it so far. Does anyone know why it got canceled? Of course, I'm also the guy who liked Cleopatra 2525, so I'm not exactly a great judge of winning tv series. LOL

Ratings were never good. From wikipedia: The episodes were aired out of the intended order. Although Whedon had designed the show to run for seven years,[69] low ratings resulted in cancellation by Fox in December 2002 after only 11 of the 14 completed episodes had aired in the United States.[70] The three episodes unaired by Fox eventually debuted in 2003 on the Sci Fi Channel in the United Kingdom.[71] Prior to cancellation, some fans, worried about low ratings, formed the Firefly Immediate Assistance campaign whose goal was to support the production of the show by sending in postcards to Fox. After it was canceled, the campaign worked on getting another network such as UPN to pick up the series.[72][73] The campaign was unsuccessful in securing the show's continuation.[5]

The A.V. Club cited several actions by the Fox network that contributed to the show's failure, most notably airing the episodes out of sequence, making the plot more difficult to follow.[74] For instance, the double episode "Serenity" was intended as the premiere, and therefore contained most of the character introductions and back-story. However, Fox decided that "Serenity" was unsuitable to open the series, and "The Train Job" was specifically created to act as a new pilot.[13] In addition, Firefly was promoted as an action-comedy rather than the more serious character study it was intended to be, and the showbiz trade paper Variety noted Fox's decision to occasionally preempt the show for sporting events.[70]

@xkonk So basically, it was doomed to failure from the get go. Nice job Fox tv!!!!!

I was actually watching the TZ marathon before I decided to watch Firefly. I may switch back to it this afternoon just to switch it up.

PROJECT BLUE BOOK

New Series Premieres January 8 10EP

Project Blue Book chronicles the true top secret United States Air Force-sponsored investigations into UFO-related phenomena in the 1950’s and 60’s known as “Project Blue Book.” The series follows Dr. J. Allen Hynek, a brilliant college professor recruited by the U.S. Air Force to spearhead this clandestine operation that researched thousands of cases, many of which were never solved. Each episode will draw from the actual files, blending UFO theories with authentic historical events from one of the most mysterious eras in United States history.

From Academy Award Winning Forrest Gump Director Robert Zemeckis (writer/director of the Back to the Future Trilogy), comes a drama series about the Air Forces’ 1952-1970 investigation into the UFO phenomenon. Blue Book is Mad Men meets the real life X-Files as it follows Dr. J. Allen Hynek and Air Force Captain Ed Ruppelt as they confront the very real possibility that we may be being visited and they may be pawns in a nationwide disinformation operation. Blue Book is the origin story of everything we know about UFOs and aliens in pop culture. Over the course of their stranger-than-fiction investigations, Hynek & Ruppelt will coin the terms UFO and Close Encounters, uncover smoking gun cover-up memos from Blue Book Chief General Nathan Twining, and witness President Truman in 1952 approve a shoot down order after a mass UFO sighting in Washington D.C. By 1970, Hynek will transform from ardent skeptic into avid believer, convinced that we are not alone.

Batwoman Pilot.

Could be interesting. People into game of thrones, green arrow and flash tv Series may have some thought on the pilot director choice.

24 sales of Week 11 of the 52 series today alone, including one of mine. Yay!

During the Elseworlds crossover, Batwoman (Ruby Rose) also mentioned "Worlds Finest" while talking to Supergirl. I think they have been planning this for a while. Ruby Rose is gay so she will be an easy fit for her character Batwoman. Being that the show will be on the CW, I think they now have a policy that EVERY show has at least one gay character. At least that's how it seems. I just hope it's good and not simply a show to promote an agenda. We will see.

I'm about halfway through this fledgling series. I like the music they have chosen. So far it's not to bad. It has an adult, gritty feel to it. Still developing the characters so I expect things to keep getting better and to keep ramping up.

Doubt they'll have weeks 11 or 7. They heated up when the cross over was announced. Other issues I'm not sure have much value over cover.

Thanks for the reminder!! I caught the first episode tonight. It could be pretty good. I LOVE the fact that Neal McDonough appears to have an active role in it. It kind of has that "X-Files" feel to it, which I love!!! And by that, I mean the early X-File episodes, not the last few seasons.
