Titans Reveals Season 3 HBO Max Release Date

HBO Max is the new home of DC's live-action and animated shows, and that includes Titans. Titans will debut season 3 on the streaming service, and now we know when, as the cast took some time during filming to film a fun video where they teased what is in store for the season and revealed that season 3 will hit HBO Max in August of this year. We don't have a specific date yet in August, but I'm sure we'll get one soon. In the meantime, you can check out the full video below, which features all of the old favorites and some of the new faces joining the cast for season 3, and you can check out what they had to say about what's next for Titans below as well.

"We're shooting season 3, we are on set and we are making the magic happen," the cast said. "So get ready for some big surprises. Season 3 is gonna be dark, mysterious, exciting, heartbreaking, that's not exciting for anyone is it? It's gonna be action-packed, fun, and the cast can't wait for you to see it. It's gonna be big. It's bananas. And I mean bananas. So stay tuned, cuz season 3 of Titans is coming this August on our new home on HBO Max, and you heard it here first."

Titans showrunner Greg Walker also recently shared some details about season 3, specifically referring to how it's different in tone compared to the first two seasons.

“This is how this season is going to be different, I think in a lot of ways. It ultimately ends with them figuring out a way as a team. It ends optimistically,” Walker said. “I that the world that we live in right now. Especially the way the Titans can be, we kind of beat ourselves up for our past sins. It’s nice to be liberated. We have a character named Dove who is going to point in the direction we’re going to go. It takes them a long time to follow her advice. Ultimately finding a way to get off the hamster wheel. To stop doing things the way we’ve always done them and find a new way. That, they have to figure out how to do collectively.”

You can find the official description for Titans below.

"In this action-packed, live-action series, Dick Grayson, aka the former Robin (series star BRENTON THWAITES), emerges from the shadows to lead a band of new heroes – including Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy and others. DC UNIVERSE’s first original series follows this group of young heroes as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the iconic Teen Titans franchise. In the groundbreaking first season, Dick meets Rachel Roth aka Raven (series star TEAGAN CROFT), a young girl with special abilities brought on by a mysterious darkness inside of her that she struggles to control, and together, they find themselves embroiled in a conspiracy to bring about Hell on Earth. Joined by the mysterious Kory Anders aka Starfire (series star ANNA DIOP) and loveable Gar Logan aka Beast Boy (series star RYAN POTTER), these lost and disparate individuals become a surrogate family to one another and a team of heroes for the world."

I can't figure out why HBO or another streaming service hasn't picked up Nobel Causes. The material is rich with story lines that would make for an excellent TV series. Also, it would be nice to see something that isn't a "relaunch or re-imagination" of this established character or that one.

Dwayne Johnson Introduces Us to the DC League of Super-Pets
By Tim BeedleTuesday, June 8th, 2021
Krypto is a good boy! Yes, he is! Such a good doggo. Look at ’im! I just wanna scritch his little ears! He’s so, so…

Er… Sorry about that, DC fans! We just lose all control of ourselves around dogs here at DCComics.com. So, we’re extremely excited about DC League of Super-Pets, the all-new upcoming animated movie bringing the Justice League’s four-legged friends to the big screen for the first time. While DC’s first theatrical animated movie since Teen Titans GO! to the Movies won’t be released until next year, Dwayne Johnson—who will be producing the film along with voicing Krypto in it—gave us our first tease of what we’re in for earlier today when he revealed the movie’s voice cast via a furr-rociously fun reveal video.

Along with Johnson, DC League of Super-Pets will also star Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna and Keanu Reeves. Hart will be voicing Ace the Bat-Hound, but the rest of the cast’s roles are undisclosed for now. Still, simply knowing who will be appearing in it should give us plenty to bark about.

Along with his voice role, Johnson’s Seven Bucks production company will be producing DC League of Super-Pets. The movie is directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine, features a screenplay by Stern and is produced by Patricia Hicks, Stern, Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia. John Requa, Glenn Ficarra and Nicholas Stoller are executive producing.

That’s about all we have on DC League of Super-Pets for now, but for more news on the movie as it breaks, make sure you follow its just-launched accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. For now, claw your way on over to the DC Community and let us know what you think of the cast!

Star Trek’s Simon Pegg Working On ‘Galaxy Quest’ TV Series
clickable text

The 1999 sci-fi comedy movie Galaxy Quest was a loving spoof of Star Trek and Trek fandom. It even shows up on some “best of Star Trek” lists. Now Star Trek’s Simon Pegg is the latest tasked at a Galaxy Quest follow-up.

Simon Pegg gives reviving Galaxy Quest a try

Since 1999 there have been a number of attempts to develop some kind of follow-up to Galaxy Quest. And in a new interview, Emmy-winning writer/producer Georgia Pritchett revealed to the UK’s Times she is working on a television spinoff, with Simon Pegg.

The article contained no other details about the project. The latest news regarding a Galaxy Quest series was one in development at Amazon which would bring back members of the original cast. A number of writers had been attached to that project, including Paul Scheer who in 2018 told The Wrap it had been put on hold. According to Scheer, his version would have the original cast interacting with the new cast, a storyline he said was inspired by the 2009 movie Star Trek featuring a new cast.

In March of this year, Sigourney Weaver told Collider that the project had been “in mothballs” in the years following the 2016 passing of Alan Rickman, however, she also indicated new activity, saying “I think they are finally now reviving it.” It’s not clear if the current project involving Pritchett and Pegg is related in any way to the one worked on by Scheer or mentioned by Weaver, however she said it was a “story of the old ancient Galaxy Questers being brought into this series with another young cast.” Galaxy Quest star Tim Allen has also discussed reprising his role as Commander Taggert. Earlier this year he talked to EW about a possible sequel to the film.

In addition to playing Montgomery “Scotty” Scott in the three Kelvin Universe Star Trek films produced by J.J. Abrams, Simon Pegg has extensive writing credits in comedy and genre on both film and television, including co-writing 2016’s Star Trek Beyond. Pritchett has an impressive resume garnering a number of awards and nominations, including the critically-acclaimed shows Veep, and Succession. She also has some sci-fi comedy television experience, working with Armando Iannucci on HBO’s Avenue 5.

With many starts and stops over the years, it’s hard to say if this latest attempt to bring back Galaxy Quest will take off. However, Pegg seems to be a perfect fit for the project, and Pritchett being involved indicates this is a serious effort. So, never give up, never surrender.

I don't know...the movie was such a perfect little package delivered to us that it really doesn't need TV treatment - not even sure a serialized version would work or is appropriate.

Maybe people could just come up with new ideas instead of sullying what was already perfect on it's own??

‘Lucifer’ Sets Season 6 Return To Netflix At Comic-Con@Home

The sixth and final season of Lucifer will debut on September 10, Netflix announced during the show’s panel at Comic-Con@Home panel on Saturday.

But before moving forward, series star Ellis, and executive producers Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich discussed the past including Dan’s shocking death while chatting at the virtual event.

“Kevin Alejandro actually pitched us him dying because he’s like, ‘It’s the last season, and everyone has grown to love this character. We were in early goings-on and it sort of stuck with us as we went on. So it’s Kevin’s fault, really,” Henderson said.

Lucifer
Added Modrovich, “Yeah, he said he wants to go out in a fiery blaze of glory, so he did.”

The trio did tease a few things to look forward to, as well. Including whether or not Lucifer would continue being involved in cases.

“Oh, I think it’s in his DNA now,” he shared. “There may be the odd thing to solve but he’s got a lot of mysteries to solve, to be honest in season 6.”

Adds moderator Luke Cook, who played Lucifer Mornings in Netflix’s, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, “Lucifer had a lot of growing up to do before becoming God, and he was really wrestling with the pain in his life and the pain of other people’s lives watching Dan die. Is he going to continue this maturation or is he going to be charming and immature?”

The Flash Main Villain Revealed And It’s A Big Surprise

clickable text

What’s going to happen in Ezra Miller’s The Flash? Fans who love to speculate about this are not in any way alone. Fortunately, when it comes to this particular movie, the conversation is ripe. There is just enough known to have a lot of conversation, but not enough to give satisfying answers. We know that Michael Keaton will appear as Batman, as will Ben Affleck. There are rumors that Ben Affleck’s Batman may die. We know that the story for the movie will mostly follow the Flashpoint arc from the comics, though it’s been promised that there are enough changes fans won’t be able to guess the whole story. Now, according to sources for The Direct, we know The Flash villain. And yes, it is certainly surprising, but there is some evidence to back this up.

The Direct has heard that The Flash villain will actually be Barry Allen. Yes, The Flash, as played by Ezra Miller, will meet a villainous version of himself. There have actually been similar events for the character in the television series on The CW and in the comics, so there is source material for the writers to pull from for this idea. Also, two weeks ago, we reported that photos from behind the scenes have shown Ezra Miller on set filming scenes where he’s talking to his double. That double is dressed like an alternate version of Barry Allen, complete with The Flash’s ring. In the photo below, the two are walking down a sidewalk, but in other videos, they are clearly filming scenes.

Does this update mean that The Flash villain will necessarily be Barry Allen himself? No, we are unable to confirm that this scoop from The Direct will be a hundred percent accurate. And while they hear that Ezra Miller will have an alternate who will be villainous, they don’t seem certain that he’s entirely the main villain for the whole movie. Still, there is enough reason to believe that this news from The Direct may pan out. One of those reasons is that Reverse Flash is one of the character’s best rated villains of all time. Also, at this point, we don’t have a lot of other actors we’ve heard cast in the film who could be playing the antagonist for the film. For Flashpoint, it makes sense to have Barry Allen fighting a version of himself.

In Flashpoint, all Barry Allen wanted to do was stop his mother’s murder. It was an understandable enough motivation. Of course, in any time travel story, there are consequences for making selfish changes to the timeline. Flashpoint is no exception to this rule, and things unravel and go poorly for Barry Allen and the world fairly quickly. In the comics story, he saves his mother, but Superman doesn’t exist. There is no Justice League. And about a dozen other things have changed, creating a whole new world. Barry Allen isn’t The Flash anymore in this alternate timeline that the character finds himself in.

We know that things will be different in the film, but based on that core story from the comics, turning Barry Allen himself into The Flash villain makes sense. He’s facing himself and his own choices to change things, after all. We’ll be watching to see if more villain news comes for the upcoming DC project.

‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 To Premiere In 2022; New Teaser Released

It’s official — there will be no new episodes of Stranger Things in 2021. Netflix this morning released a new 30-second teaser for the upcoming installment of the hugely popular supernatural series, which confirmed that Season 4 will debut in 2022, at least two and a half years after the July 2019 release of Season 3.

The new spot (watch it above) features classic moments from the first three seasons of Stranger Things mixed with quick glances at Season 4 footage, including a glimpse of the new monster, an amusement park and a creepy old clock. The teaser also will air tonight during NBC’s Tokyo Olympics coverage.

The first Season 4 trailer, released on February 14, 2020, teased the return of David Harbour’s Hopper. The second Eleven-focused trailer, released this past May, hinted at the rumored return of Dr. Martin Brenner, played by Matthew Modine. (You can watch them below.)

A month after Stranger Things started production on Season 4 in February 2020, it was suspended due to the escalating coronavirus pandemic. It resumed last September.

At the end of Season 3, following the explosion aimed at destroying the Soviet lab to the Upside Down deep under the new Starcourt Mall, Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) is seen taking her sons (Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp) and Eleven (Brown) out of the Indiana town to start a new life. There is a jump in geography in the final scene, which takes place in the far Eastern end of the USSR where guards are feeding a prisoner to an imprisoned Demogorgon, but “not the American.”

“Although it’s not all good news for our ‘American’ (Hopper); he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human…and other,” series creators the Duffer brothers said last year. “Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything. Season 4 is shaping up to be the biggest and most frightening season yet, and we cannot wait for everyone to see more.”

Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, Stranger Things is produced by Monkey Massacre Productions & 21 Laps Entertainment. The twin brothers serve as writers, directors, executive producers and showrunners on the series alongside executive producer/director Shawn Levy and exec producer Dan Cohen of 21 Laps and exec producer Iain Paterson. clickable text

Exclusive: She-Hulk Will Introduce Multiple Hulks
By FAITH MCKAY

Filming is wrapping up on the new Disney+ series, She-Hulk. As that happens, more news is bound to begin to come out about the series that will star Tatiana Maslany as the title character, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, and further develop the Hulk lore for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, we’ve exclusively learned from one of our trusted and proven insiders one development in the show that will carry forward. She-Hulk will introduce multiple Hulks into the Marvel Universe, and those characters are something we can expect to see in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fans have watched Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner for years, always wanting more from the beloved character. It’s going to be interesting to see how Marvel moves forward with building the Hulk lore from here. We were unable to learn how many Hulks they will be introducing throughout the episodes of the series, but there are plenty to pull from in the comics. There’s of course the Incredible Hulk, aka Bruce Banner, aka Professor Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo. Since they’ll be introducing more Hulks in She-Hulk, it’s great that they’re bringing the original in for the Marvel Cinematic Universe series. They’ll have Jennifer Walters, also known as She-Hulk herself. Amadeus Cho, frequently known as Asian Hulk, is a character fans have been waiting to see on screen for a long time and would make a great choice for a She-Hulk introduction.

There’s Betty Ross, also known as Red She-Hulk. Betty Ross is a love interest for Bruce Banner. We saw her in the solo Hulk movie starring Edward Norton, though she hasn’t yet the Red She-Hulk in that movie. Because of her presence in that film, it may be too complicated to bring her in now, but she’d be an interesting character to bring into the present Marvel storyline.

One of the big questions here is how She-Hulk will introduce all of these other Hulks. Will this be something that happens gradually over the series? For example, will Jennifer Walters be seeking out other Hulks in an attempt to learn more about herself or something specific? Her character is a lawyer, so searching out people is likely something she does for cases frequently. She may be on a mission that leads to her seeking out these other Hulks. Alternatively, will there be a major event that changes multiple people, and suddenly these people see their lives changed?

We know that She-Hulk is going to see Jennifer Walters as a lawyer. The show is going to focus on that side of her life and will reportedly be a legal comedy. If the multiple Hulks were somehow involved in a trial that the main character was working on throughout the series, that may make sense to make the multiple Hulks a more central part of the storyline. However, it’s also possible these characters will just be introduced quietly during the series, leading to a bigger future down the road.

One thing is for sure, these story changes are going to have a fun and lasting effect on future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects.

Day of the Dead TV Series Gets Poster and Premiere Date From SYFY

The first trailer for an adaptation of George A. Romero's Day of the Dead debuted earlier this summer, though it was only touting a "fall" release date, with a new poster for the upcoming series confirming that the series will be premiering on SYFY on October 15th. The past year has seen a number of highly anticipated projects earn delays, either in production or in release dates, with October 15th now slated to be a major day for horror fans, as it marks not only the series premiere of Day of the Dead, but it will also see the release of Halloween Kills and Venom: Let There Be Carnage in theaters. Check out the poster for the new Day of the Dead TV series below.

The Day of the Dead series is the intense story of six strangers, as they try to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion. The ode to Romero’s famous flesh-eaters reminds us that sometimes all it takes to bring people together is a horde of hungry zombies trying to rip them apart.

Day of the Dead stars Keenan Tracey (Bates Motel), Daniel Doheny (Alex Strangelove), Natalie Malaika (Fractured), Kristy Dinsmore (Vikings), and newcomer Morgan Holmstrom. The series is showrun and written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. Steven Kostanski executive produces the series and directs the first four episodes.

The new series is inspired by the third film in Romero's iconic zombie series that kicked off with Night of the Living Dead and was continued with Dawn of the Dead. Day of the Dead saw survivors of the zombie apocalypse taking to an underground bunker, with researchers and members of the military using a cache of zombies to experiment on in hopes of finding a permanent solution to the undead horde.

With the new series taking some narrative deviations from the source material, director Kostanski pointed out the ways in which the project is inspired by Romero.

"Well, I can say honestly that the on-set experience for that show was such a scrappy low-budget adventure that it definitely felt like what I imagined Romero felt like on the '70s movies, where it was a lot of really thinking on our feet and seeing how we can stretch our budget as much as possible," Kostanski detailed to ComicBook.com. "It's a very low-budget affair but we really pushed hard to have as many crazy gags and stuff as possible. I can't explicitly give any details on plot or anything like that. It's not really my place to divulge those secrets just yet, but I can say that I had a blast shooting and I had a great time working with the showrunners. I really feel like we've made something that really captures the spirit of the era of Romero's movies. So I hope people like it."

Day of the Dead premieres on October 15th.

Exclusive: Huntress Live-Action Project In The Works

One of the things Birds of Prey did well is introduce a cast of characters from DC comics that audiences want to know more about. Now, the studio has shown they’re getting on that, with the recent announcement of Jurnee Smollett signing on for Black Canary for HBO Max. But what about some of the other characters we met in the DC film? What about The Huntress? We’ve now learned from one of our trusted and proven inside sources that the studio is currently developing a live-action Huntress project.

Huntress is one of those hero titles that have been taken up by many different people over the years. In the comics, the title has actually been taken up by both heroes and villains. Helena Bertinelli was the Huntress we saw in Birds of Prey played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead and is hopefully the character and actress they’re working with on this new live-action film, though we were unable to confirm that this is their intention. The Black Canary movie for HBO Max will be using the same actress from Birds of Prey, which will connect her movie to the DC Extended Universe where Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn exists, so it’s a fair guess that DC is currently making similar plans with their new Huntress project.

Right now, DC has a lot of interesting projects happening. It can get a little bit confusing, particularly since they aren’t as committed as Marvel is to creating one, unified cinematic universe. While it would make the most sense that the new live-action Huntress project will include Mary Elizabeth Winstead playing the part, and possibly even include some crossover to the new Black Canary film, we’ve seen that DC is willing to have a project take place in an alternate universe if it better aligns with the creative vision for their project. This means we’ll have to wait to see how this project develops as they get all their places in place. This also naturally raises questions about a Harley Quinn appearance.

In the comics and animated projects, Huntress interacts with a lot of other DC characters, so the opportunity to introduce new characters in this solo project is there. However, she’s also connected to those Birds of Prey characters already. If the studio sees Mary Elizabeth Winstead playing Huntress once again, then the story takes place in the same world as Birds of Prey, which invites appearances from any characters in that film.

Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is a fan-favorite character, and one most often seen in a supporting role in DC films. Will she be likely to show up in the new Huntress project? While that’s certainly a possibility, it would seem likely that DC would worry about Harley Quinn’s draw overshadowing Huntress in her own solo movie. Instead, appearances by Black Canary may happen, connecting the two new solo films for audiences. Alternatively, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya would be a fun choice. The actress doesn’t currently have her own solo film announced. She was popular in Birds of Prey and the actress has expressed that she’d be willing to return.

The Huntress project is certainly proof that DC is doing more to keep their cinematic universe exciting and full of fresh characters from the comics. It will be interesting to see how they bring these projects to life, and how they connect for audiences.
