Not TV exactly but I watched The Old Guard on Netflix last night. They changed things from the series (at least the first arc; haven't read the second arc) but it was good. Good action scenes.

Took this endorsement and pulled up the show..quite informative and well done. I enjoyed learning more about the scandal. Thanks

I was scrolling around on Netflix a few days ago and came across Monty Python's Flying Circus. Who knew this was available for streaming on Netflix? Haven't watched these TV show episodes in many years. I've watched a couple and will watch more when the mood strikes.

Back in the mid-late 70's, before Netflix, streaming, the internet or even cable TV was a thing, a local UHF station would air these episodes. They would be on Friday and/or Saturday nights, late night at 11pm or 11:30pm. This was my first introduction to the Python. I have fond memories of watching these with my older brother.

For me, the series seemed to start out slow, like lethargically so, and never really built up. Most of the twists at the end I saw coming, and the ones I didn't, didn't really excite me. The final scene left me with a "Huh, okay..." over anything.

I'm a bit bummed, because I dug the premise of it.

I also liked it and looking forward to the next season. I thought of the episodes as a crescendo.

Star Trek: Prodigy Announced for Nickelodeon

By JAMIE LOVETT - July 23, 2020
clickable text

The next Star Trek series has officially arrived. As part of Thursday's Star Trek Universe panel during Comic-Con@Home, Nickelodeon and CBS Television Studios revealed the title and logo for the upcoming animated series Star Trek: Prodigy, which follows a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning, and salvation. The series is developed by Emmy Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (Trollhunters and Ninjago) and overseen for Nickelodeon by Ramsey Naito, EVP, Animation Production and Development, Nickelodeon. The CG-animated television series will make its debut on Nickelodeon in 2021.

Star Trek: Prodigy comes from CBS' Eye Animation Productions (CBS Television Studios' new animation arm), Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers alongside Kevin and Dan Hageman. Aaron Baiers will serve as a co-executive producer.

Star Trek: Prodigy joins ViacomCBS' expanding Star Trek franchise. It is the first Star Trek series aimed at younger audiences for Nickelodeon. The Star Trek Universe on CBS All Access currently includes the original series Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Discovery, the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks, the upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and the development of a Section 31-based series with Michelle Yeoh.

Star Trek: Prodigy debuting in 2021 is something of a surprise given that Kadin suggested the animation process would take longer than that during a 2019 interview. "I was surprised!" she said. "As someone who makes big, live-action shows, I heard how long it was going to take, and I was like, 'What?!' Because it's 3D animation, so just takes that much longer… But the Hageman brothers [come from] Ninjago and TrollHunters, they're doing it, so it's definitely going to be more in that visual look."

She also explained why they chose the Hagemans to develop the project. "The reason we went to the Hagemans is because if you've seen their work, you know that they're not writing Muppet Babies," she explained. "It's not Little Spock and Little Kirk. It's not playing down [to viewers] that way. Even [with] their characters in Ninjago — they are teenagers — I was able to watch that with my kids, and they write with a very epic quality. They tell stories the way we tell stories in live-action: serialized, turning over cards… I think it will be a great way for fans to introduce the franchise to their kids, and for new fans to be formed because it's such a big franchise, [it can be hard] to get into as a kid."

Star Trek: Prodigy debuts in 2021.

I watched Old Guard on Netflix. Some of it I liked and other parts not so much. The story and idea was good but I think it could have been a lot better. I will give it a 6 out of 10.

Has anyone else watched the Politician on Netflix? I've finished season 1 and am about half way through season 2. I guess I would classify it as a dark comedy. Very odd. Love the cast.

I still have the cable so I'll DVR a show for its season before I start. I still have Snowpiercer and Stargirl to watch. I did watch Barkskins. It's 8 episodes and ends on a cliffhanger setting up a season two even though it was promoted as a limited series. It is a period piece between the French, English, Iroquois. Very well done.

This could also go in the "What are you listening to" thread. I watched this last night. Not the best rock and roll documentary I've ever seen, but was interesting. If you are in any way a fan of the Go-Go's, you'll enjoy this.

New Tron Movie to Star Jared Leto

Disney is reentering the Grid for a new Tron movie. So far, they have announced that the third installment in the series about humans entering a video game will star Jared Leto and be helmed by Lion director Garth Davis.

Tron was released in 1982 and though it was not a big hit at the box office, the movie gained cult status, developing a loyal following of fans. The movie was given a sequel in 2010 with Tron: Legacy, which was successful in theaters and since then a third movie has been in discussion.

Aside from Lion, which was a Best Picture nominee, Davis is known for the drama, Mary Magdalene. No other casting news was announced, so it is unclear if Jeff Bridges or Garrett Hedlund will return to their roles from the first two movies.

OK, not a comic book but I am absolutely loving Cobra Kai on Netflix. Just started watching last night and couldn't stop. The original Karate Kid movie spoke to a lot of folks in my generation, and this show will do the same. It's a continuation from Karate Kid 1, 35ish years later with a really clever and believable twist. The preppie bully from KK1 is down and out and still a shithead but he ends up training the misfit outsider kid. Daniel is very successful and his kids may be in danger of being the new generation of snotty rich bullies. It's incredibly well written with layered characters...the good guys have bad compartments and the bad guys have good compartments. A lot of humorous references to the original movie.
