Raise the price of your item by around 10% and the fees should not matter. If I offer a book on a message board for $200, I am offering the book for $220 on eBay.

Mycomicshop, Metropolis and other places do the same thing. If the person wants it that bad on eBay they will pay more for it.

This is what I understand, as far as the sales threads issue on this forum.

Steve Borock has said that he does not want the CBCS Forms to promote sales as it would not be fair to full time convention and internet dealers.Guys who spend thousands of dollars on booking booths, hotels and travel expenses to set up at cons over the country.

I respect his position on that.

And like Buzz said, it is actually pretty simple.

Just raise the price that you would sell on a "no fee" sales forum by 10%, list the book on ebay. You get an infinitely wider audience than you get in a CGC forums sales thread or this forum.

Wider audience = more collective money to be spent = higher returns = more sales.

Rinse and repeat.

I see books sell in CGC sales threads that will invariably sell for at LEAST 10% more on eBay, usually much more than 10%.Not too mention uploading scans of books onto the CGC forums with Photobucket means you have to upload every single image twice.Photobucket is painfully slow to navigate, while it takes me all of 15 seconds to pull up a scan on my desktop or a pic from my cell and add it to my eBay listing.

I don't sell and don't use Photobucket, so I'm just curious, why do you have to upload them twice? On Tinypic you upload once and then you can paste the address anywhere.

Dealers would have the opportunity to list books as well if there was a sales forum.

I really hope we get one soon

There is no need, as far as I can tell. To upload to photobucket or any other hosting site. Just upload directly to this site from your computer.

All the pics I have posted on this site, came directly from pics I have in my PC. None are from photobucket. And there have been many in the past month.

As to selling here. I see it has started already. With no cautions, warnings or "wrist slaps" from the moderators.

I will be watching closely over the next few days. I have many raw books I would like to sell to those here, and buy a few slabbed books also. I could do it on Ebay of course. But Ebay is full of shady buyers, as well as sellers.

Moderators. If nothing is cast in stone soon here. This selling is going to take off quickly. Many of the people here do this for a living or partial living.

If I had my druthers here. I would restrict selling to those who DO NOT sell comic books commercially (admittedly, that would be tough to oversee). I would restrict selling here, to transactions between collectors.

I believe that would be in the spirit of the "substantial" word used in the guidelines of the site, as posted above.

Ready for those slings and arrows. As usual.

That's not really. What I was talking about. Using CBCS/CGC's upload feature is. Different then uploading to Photobucket. For one, if you upload to this site, there's no. Way to delete the picture yourself. Plus, would it be alright if I. Uploaded a picture here and then. Used that picture to sell a book on the CGC Board?

I guess I understand your points. But not really. Why would you need to delete the photos once posted? You can use whatever picture you want to sell on the other forum, I would assume. Just upload the pick to photobucket for use on other forums, OR, upload here and just sell here............The other forum (CGC) requires that if you have something for sale on their web site. You can not have it for sale anywhere else. Unless things have changed. I don't have a clue if this (CBCS) web site has that same rule. Since they actually do not have selling authorized here yet.

It is kind of iffy for this site. A hard and fast yes or no has not been proclaimed yet, as to if selling is allowed. Least not that I have seen.

Because? What if somone hotlinks it and uses it in a inappropriate manner? Really this was an example of how you would have no control over the picture if you uploaded it here.

What I was asking is do you think it would be ok to upload a picture here and then use that picture to sell a book on CGC's board? Seems pretty rude but CBCS might not care. But then again I don't think CBCS wants people using this site as their personal storage site.

Conditionfreak:

Borock has given a "hard and fast no or yes" with regards to selling, several times.

The answer was definitively a "no sales allowed on the CBCS Forums".

Stelbert:

I was talking about the CGC forums as you cannot upload images directly onto the CGC forums, without using a hosting site.

You can post images on the CGC forums, but again, you have to supply a URL/hyperlink.

There is no way to upload images from your own files onto the CGC forums, unlike this forum.

When rules are broken, I can assure you the moderators will take care of it. There is no need to self-police the forums at this time.

Though we do appreciate your enthusiasm. ☺

If you see something that you feel violates the rules, please send a notification to the mods. We'll take it from there. 👍

Conditionfreak - check the FS thread that's up right now, Someone said it's cool to sell lower priced items.

@CopperAgeKids - unless it's changed very recently, you can upload pics to the CGC board just like you do here. Been that way for 14 years. I think the size limit is smaller than here. Your comment still doesn't make sense to me, because if you use an outside host, you still only have to upload the pic one time to that host. I don't understand where the twice comes from.

This is no way to run an asylum.

"Someone said" (yea, I read that sales thread)

"Lower priced if okay" (what the heck is lower priced?)

"substantial sales prohibited" (what does "substantial" mean?)

I'm just going to go with sales are allowed. And find out the hard way what is kosher and what is not. I can only ask so many times.

Not giving any grief here to CBCS or any moderators, and certainly not to any other member. Seems that we all are feeling our way through this new site. Gonna put up some kool books for sale today. As the Black Widow said in the Avengers movie, "should be fun".

He gave the rundown on why , with his reasons (in the past month or two), on Facebook , and elsewhere on this forum, IIRC.I don't routinely save Borock's posts

In any event, I am 100% sure that I am not mistaken , regarding what Borock said.

Hey guys. I received a private message from a moderator telling me basically this:

The rules are not exact for legal reasons. The moderators will observe what happens and let anyone crossing the line know they did so. They will also take whatever action they deem appropriate to correct any mistakes by us in attempting to sell. But that sales are NOT prohibited at this time. IE: sales are allowed to an unknown extent as of right now. If you are in doubt, private message a moderator. But really, just do your CBCS slabbed books or raw book sales and have fun.

Now I will add my own words here. Gleamed from reading several things on this web site: I am sure that selling raw books is okay. PGX (or any other third rate grading and slabbing company) books are a no-no. But I do not have any idea about CGC slabbed books. Doesn't matter to me though, as I never sell slabbed books.
