I agree 100%. I'd love to make exclusives available from the shows I attend and continue to offer them at reasonable prices instead of seeing the continual gouging and nutty prices I see elsewhere.

As a customer of yours !! From the ECCC convention. It would be awesome to have some of your sale threads!
You always have great prices and even better shipping.
Thank you and hope we get to see an SDCC sale

haha Thanks! I hope we get an SDCC thread here too.

It would be very difficult to start up a sales section with zero history on sellers or buyers -- I suspect they will go the certified dealer path to start then expand it to trusted sellers --- with buyers it will be pure luck

Raise the price of your item by around 10% and the fees should not matter. If I offer a book on a message board for $200, I am offering the book for $220 on eBay.

Mycomicshop, Metropolis and other places do the same thing. If the person wants it that bad on eBay they will pay more for it.

All right, you've all convinced me. Add me to the list of those who are respectfully requesting "FOR SALE" and "WANT TO BUY" tags.

I don't see a problem with FS/WTB, but I think we should "get settled in" first, so to speak.

There's also the Facebook pages (C4 Marketplace/CBCS Slab bst) where it wouldn't be too hard to get some seller/buyer history.

I'm all for it!

The other board's sales area seems to work pretty well. Paying through PayPal provides protection for buyers. So, I think a sales area should work, once (if?) they end up having sub-forums.

I think they are still figuring it out. I hope we have one here. It will help the brand a lot and also let me grow my CBCS collection!

It's cool seeing so many familiar avatars and board names here. Sales here would work fine, so here's to hoping CBCS allows it.

What about adding a section for links to our eBay auctions? It wouldn't be selling directly on the forum, but would get more eyes out to what's available.

I agree It would definitely be nice to atleast be able to add our eBay links I have a lot of good stuff right now. Trying to build up as many followers as I can and get my name out there I don't see what it would hurt.

Honestly, being able to buy comics on these boards is the only reason I was interested in them. Otherwise I can use other forums to discuss issues. Besides it is good for business. Currently if I want an autographed comic but can't get it done myself there are other boards where I can get it done, the problem is I have to get it certified by CGC even though I may not really want it that way. I'm sure these and other points have probably already been made in this extensive thread. I think if nothing else the administrators of these forums must realize this is something the community wants, and honestly if they aren't willing to provide it, their competition will.

This is what I understand, as far as the sales threads issue on this forum.

Steve Borock has said that he does not want the CBCS Forms to promote sales as it would not be fair to full time convention and internet dealers.Guys who spend thousands of dollars on booking booths, hotels and travel expenses to set up at cons over the country.

I respect his position on that.

And like Buzz said, it is actually pretty simple.

Just raise the price that you would sell on a "no fee" sales forum by 10%, list the book on ebay. You get an infinitely wider audience than you get in a CGC forums sales thread or this forum.

Wider audience = more collective money to be spent = higher returns = more sales.

Rinse and repeat.

I see books sell in CGC sales threads that will invariably sell for at LEAST 10% more on eBay, usually much more than 10%.Not too mention uploading scans of books onto the CGC forums with Photobucket means you have to upload every single image twice.Photobucket is painfully slow to navigate, while it takes me all of 15 seconds to pull up a scan on my desktop or a pic from my cell and add it to my eBay listing.

I am among the folks who were really hoping for a selling forum. Sure, we can put our prices up by 10%, but I would prefer to keep fees out of the equation for mutual benefit and avoid the riff raff.

I don't sell and don't use Photobucket, so I'm just curious, why do you have to upload them twice? On Tinypic you upload once and then you can paste the address anywhere.

There is no need, as far as I can tell. To upload to photobucket or any other hosting site. Just upload directly to this site from your computer.

All the pics I have posted on this site, came directly from pics I have in my PC. None are from photobucket. And there have been many in the past month.

As to selling here. I see it has started already. With no cautions, warnings or "wrist slaps" from the moderators.

I will be watching closely over the next few days. I have many raw books I would like to sell to those here, and buy a few slabbed books also. I could do it on Ebay of course. But Ebay is full of shady buyers, as well as sellers.

Moderators. If nothing is cast in stone soon here. This selling is going to take off quickly. Many of the people here do this for a living or partial living.

If I had my druthers here. I would restrict selling to those who DO NOT sell comic books commercially (admittedly, that would be tough to oversee). I would restrict selling here, to transactions between collectors.

I believe that would be in the spirit of the "substantial" word used in the guidelines of the site, as posted above.

Ready for those slings and arrows. As usual.

That's not really. What I was talking about. Using CBCS/CGC's upload feature is. Different then uploading to Photobucket. For one, if you upload to this site, there's no. Way to delete the picture yourself. Plus, would it be alright if I. Uploaded a picture here and then. Used that picture to sell a book on the CGC Board?
