If you give a damn about freedom in this country, use this link to call your representatives.

Is there a financial incentive for these representatives to care about this issue (would have to be more than what Comcast is "donating" to their campaigns)?

If not, don't expect any action to be taken.

Of course there is a financial interest in the form of campaign donations i.e. legalized bribery.

That is why people should vote for candidates who do not take PAC, SUPER-PAC and/or large private donations.....
to begin with.

You are very wrong about not expecting pressure from citizens being unable to change how corporate funded Democrats and Republican representatives ultimately decide to cast their votes.

About half of the Congressmen and half of the Senators in my state (NJ) , who fell into the category of taking such donations have publically changed their support of the net nuetrality repealment into a vote against the repealment.

They did so because voters made phone calls to their offices, they know they will be voted out of office later this year, if enough voters indicate where they stand.

Losing their jobs, is largely, a greater incentive.

@CopperAgeKids But CAK. Trump supports this, these candidates support Trump, right?

That fact alone will keep them in office for the foreseeable future.

This is a good example. Everybody has picked a side (Demo or Rep or Indep) and then trash talks the other sides. There is no more middle ground.

Thanks America!

Nearly all Republicans vote with Trump, not doing so would cause their base to reject them.

There are a handful of Republicans who are somewhat moderate and may flip from repealing. Rubio and a couple others but they usually vote with Trump at the last minute.

Democrats, are not much better, as a whole.

However, the majority of Dems have publically stated they will vote against net neutrality repealment.

It is the handful of Dems who are fence sitters, who are afraid of being primaried and voted out...those are the votes needed.

So, your argument in favor of "why bother" does not have merit.

Trump will, of course, attempt to veto a successful win but his veto is not absolute.

This is factually incorrect.

@CopperAgeKids you are wrong. This will pass. Congress won’t oppose it. You are factually incorrect.

Politics 101: You get what you vote for, thus what you deserve.

Life Lesson 101: Life does not come with seat belts.

Forum Participation 101: Talking politics is a sure fire way to lose friends.

Now, having said all of that. Somebody who wears a red baseball cap is on a role. North Korea released hostages. North Korea is promising to talk peace and denuclearization (although I don't see it happening but who knows), USA is no longer part of the Paris Climate Accord, Iran has been told to go to hell, approval numbers are up, job numbers are better, take home pay has increased because taxes are lower, and the Affordable Care Act Mandate is history, ISIS has been devastated, Gorsuch is a Supreme Court Justice, two more openings on the Supreme Court are #soon, Bolton, Pompeo, Haspel, and a host of other good people in key positions.

If you want more good news, just PM me. I'm happier than a pig in slop these days.

It is amazing to watch from outside the US how US is selfdestroying its reputation. This is not about Trump - it is Washington DC in general.

I can understand why Trump did what he did about Iran - although don’t agree. It puts a lot of pressure on N. Korea/China but it will have consequences for the US as well. To me a deal is a deal - if all deals the US makes are only valid until the next president - then it is a downhill battle.

Deals are broken all of the time. From Stormy Daniels to Kim Jong Il. From "Read my lips, no new taxes (Bush the first), to Iran promising they were not seeking nuclear bombs (and were). From "you can keep your doctor and your plan" (Obama), to Brexit (haven't seen that yet).

Heck, pick any marriage that ended in divorce. That is breaking a pledge.
