Collector Enelson private msg quote post Address this user

From the pictures you have provided, I would say 9.2 to 9.4
I see rounded edges on the corners; front cover. There is bends (from someone flipping through the comic) on the front cover beside Gideon's arm in the black areas. Uneven staple's because the spine is not aligned. Then there is the big crease (as you stated) on the back cover; breaking color.

I'd say even with a pressing and the spine correction, it would be in the 9.4 range.
I could be wrong, wont be the first time or the last.
Great comic! Thanks for sharing with us!

That's going to be lower than a 9.0. 7.5/8.0

Most of that will press out but the color break will drop it to an 8.0 at least. Color breaks are the enemy.

Damn I was way off on my grading evaluation. I was thinking 9.2
But then again, it is a more modern era comic, graded more harshly than a Silver or Golden.

The heavy crease down to 7.0, pressing won’t help, it will only make it a flat crease.

@GanaSoth i paid 140, with free ship, seller had it listed at 225 or best offer. I knew it was a gamble because of the crease, but the cover looks great...but, boy this threads all over the place for grades. I'll submit and press and report back. My amateur guessing was in the 8 to 8.5 but I've never submitted a comic with a crease like that, so we'll see. Maybe I'll fast pass everything and see if I can make my money back when movies out.
Oh well, womp womp

@Enelson Yeah, I have never submitted a comic with any creases before either. $140 wasn't too bad, I'm sure you can get that back and a little profit.

This book had a fold over crease like yours.

I wouldn't spend the money to have it pressed. The color breaking crease is going to put a ceiling on the grade. It won't matter if it's flat or not.

Looks to be a 7.0.

You did alright.

With a press, likely an 8.0.

That said, there isn't much room for profit.

And GPA is virtually the same in 90 day average between 7.0 to 8.0....about $225, across the board.

Pressin and slabbing will run you about $50, not including invoice and shipping ccosts.

2 day modern is $32, quick stream bump on pressing is $8, pressing is $12, IIRC.

Subtract 14% for eBay and PayPal fees when you list it, and you'll make $20 or so, if sold at GPA.

So it's a bit of a lower if you go that route.

I'd say to just list it at $200-225 and wait, it'll sell eventually.

I'd give you $250 in trade for the book, as is.I'll ship first, LMK what you're looking for, if interested.

I'm setting up at the VA Comic Con,Seinfeld will be there both days and I am sure I can get $225 for it, off my wall.

I have 3 other copies, but mine are all in the 9.4-9.8 range, so they are worth slabbing.

Well that's somewhat encouraging.

@CopperAgeKids I think I might just slab it and keep it, which was my original plan. I sold off all my deadpool and new mutants about 8 years ago like an idiot so I've been slowly been replacing keys. But I will definitely consider offer, trying to think of what I'd want

If your in for the flip just put right back on eBay with pictures of the crease. Should get around $200.00 as is condition.

By all means, if you want the book for your collection, just keep it.

I would not suggest pressing/slabbing it, though.Unless you simply want to have the book in a slab,in your collection. In that case, I would have it pressed.

I believe that all books, which do not have brittle pages or heavy tanning, should be pressed to conserve structural integrity.

Of course that is cost prohibitive, it's a matter of picking your battles.

Far as trading, I'd raise the bounty to $300.

When it comes to trading, I don't mind giving the other guy a higher dollar value, if he is taking more books.

IOW, I like giving up 10 books that are worth $30 a pop, for 1 book that is worth $200.

I picked up a raw 8.0 Batman Adventures 12 in a Facebook trade, in a stack of books, similar fashion a while back.

Also got a Spider-Gwen #1 CGC SS 9.8 Hughes 1:100 Mary Jane variant, for around $500 worth of raws, off another Facebook trade.

That guy lived about half an hour from me so I asked him about meeting up for another trade...He ended up bring a few short boxes over my house and we did another trade; raws for raws.Like $400 or so.

He got a few of my wall books, $50 or so books, and he ransacked my $5 and $10 convention boxes, made up a big stack.

My convention boxes are priced around half of Overstreet/FMV so it works out for both parties.

I'll do those kind of trades, all day long.

Btw, this applies to anyone else (who is reputable) reading this thread, as well
.👍

I wouldn't grade it. Keep it raw or press and sell as raw later on if the value keeps going up

Still better than a kick in the face :/

Cover itself is still very nice. I've actually kept books with half the back cover missing etc just b/c it looks so good from the front that I figure I'll frame it and admire it for awhile at least
