clickable text Going fast. Only 500 available on eBay...going fast. With a 3000 print run, with 2500 I'm assuming available at the The Little Giant Comics Old School Comic Show in NH today. $30 + $7 shipping seems a bit much for a 3000 print run, IMO. Limit 2 per customer. Orders will be cancelled if more than two are ordered and you get NOTHING! ![]() |

I was gonna buy "The Hunt for Wolverine #1" anyways. This just seemed to be the "variant" I liked out of all the others. - Besides the other cover where Wolverine is busting out of a grave and its raining and muddy, like a horror movie scene - that one is cool too.![]() |

Greg Reece listed 100 raw 9.4's at $45 shipped. 6 copies left. It is nuts how these hot modern variants suddenly make other books become hot. I sold both of the "9.4 or better" raws of the ASM 129 Shattered variant today, after having them listed for about 2 months with no copies sold. First sold at $29.99 shipped....ugh, too cheap. Raised the other copy to $35 plus $5 for 1st class shipping, sold in a couple hours. I have at least 1 more copy, going to take a look to see what I have and pull a 9.8 candidate or 2 for grading. I know that I have at least 3 copies, they are all actually 9.6/9.8's...dunno why I had them listed at $29.99 w/free shipping.Duh. I had a few watchers on them, saw today that number of watchers jumped up to 11 today when the 1st copy sold. |

Selling for more than double cover price on eBay...there are 3000 of them out ere...Not to mention this is shop variant of a comic that has multiple variants. Kinda crazy. Did they even sell out at the comic show? |

Does anyone know if they charge $30 at the show? I was at Infinity War when it was released, so I had a friend order it for me. I was I bit shocked when he told me the price seeing as the last 2 shattered covers were $15. If I had been the one ordering I may have passed on it.

It was $25 at the show...limit 2 per customer. Admission was $5, so it was like you were getting credited the cost of admission on the comic (relative to the EBay price). Yes...$37 (after shipping) is very steep for a 3000 print run. Especially when other shop variants offer similar runs for $15 or less. And even moreso when EBAY exclusives are less than $10 AFTER shipping (like the Black Panther and Spectacular Spider-Man). |

I'm going to say something that might get me shot but I'm honestly getting a little tired of Wolverine. Like Deadpool, he's everywhere and in everything. You gotta give people what they want and the people have clearly spoken but their bandwagons seem to be overcrowded these days. I get that Wolvlie is a cool character but c'mon man, this is the kind of lazy, pandering stuff that is killing the hobby. IMO |

If I attended that show, I would have snapped up 2 copies at $30 a throw...I would hand pick 9.8 candidates ![]() The book is mnw selling at $60+... Greg Reece sold thru the 100 NM copies he listed at $45 (shipped within the US) within a day or so. The lowest BIN I see is $67 shipped, with one copy left. Bottom line is that a book does not have to be very short printed to command certain prices. A great example of that fact is the 1 in 10 variant of Supergirl/LOS #19. Over a grand in 9.8 with raw VF/NM's around $400+. There are 1 in 50 and 1 in 100 variants of DC books from the same year that are not even worth a tenth of the Hughes Supergirl variant. Supply and demand, that is pretty much all there is to it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/263500038594 |

Even Venom #1, 1:1000 2017 McFarlane b/with variant has dropped by about 50% of what it was first commanding. |

Yeah, I got an Astonishing X-Men #1 Jim Lee remastered edition 1/1000 variant. I paid like $599 for it I believe? (Hard to remember.) It looks like a 9.8 & I got it at a pretty decent price. So, if you can get the 1/1000 variants at a steal, it still might be worth a buy. Just my 2 cents.

I get it. Supply and demand. It is a unique cover in a sense. I just didn't understand how they got the $30 price point to start when other shop variants (outside of comicxposure) list their 3000 print run of high demand (and presumably high cost) cover artists for $15 or less. Good for little giant comics for seeing the opportunity. Unless maybe they had a high initial investment as its crafted from a physical mosaic. I would have picked one up if I cared for the story contents within...which I don't. I still do buy comics I like for what's inside. And in cases of shop variants the one that has the best cover gets my cash.... On that note I'm struggling a bit between the in yuk and parilo covers of asm 800... |

Quote:Originally Posted by GanaSoth I would not call $599 for a modern variant, a steal. IMO, a "steal" would be $100, I am sure it would move at around $300-$450 in auction, if it was a 9.8 candidate. Most I'd pay for this book to resell it is $200...I wouldn't expect to double my buy in, either but I know it'd be good for a $100 in profit, if flipped raw. A raw copy is on eBay now at $500 BIN, unsold. A slabbed 9.8 is worth about what you paid for your raw copy....so unless you were to slab the book now, and get a 9.8 on it....you will lose hundreds, if you decide to sell it down the road. A year from now, the hype over a "remastered" 1/1000 Lee variant will be much less prevalent than it is now. 5 years from now, my bet is that the book you plunked down over half a grand for, will be worth a $100 in a 9.8 slab. Here is GPA on the book, in blue 9.8: ( 9.8 ) Remastered Edition - (2) $660 (4) $598 (2) $535 $451 Mar-2018 2018 (2) $620Hi $451Lo 2017 (2) $895Hi $425Lo Nov-01-2017 $425 Cert# 1235982004 Oct-10-2017 $895 Cert# 1560506001 1 sale last year at $895 is the high, most recent sale is $625...with 2 sales well under your $599 buy in price. And what if your copy comes back at a 9.6? You'd be out $300-$400, is my guess. The Buy It Now and best offer prices of this book are way above what the book is actually worth. There have been no SS 9.6 or 9.8 Lee's sold, at all. My guess is that a SS Jim Lee 9.8 would move at $600-$1000, in auction. Double signed with Stan and Jim in 9.8...probably around $700 to $1000, in auction. The $1500-$2000 BIN/OBO prices are a joke. |

Quote:Originally Posted by Odins_Raven I disagree. Putting down $25-$75 for a raw variant like this is not going to hurt a buyer. If it is sharp enough, a buyer could easily double his cost, including grading fees, on a 9.8. A 9.4 would be a break even with a 9.6 netting $10-$30 in profit. Either way, a book like this isn't going to turn collectors off of the market. What does hurt the long term health of the hobby, is paying hundreds of dollars for 1:500,1:1000 variants. Those books will invariably cost the buyers hundreds of dollars, when they decide to sell the book, for whatever reason. Even if a buyer keeps the book, they will be pretty salty to see that a book they paid $600 , or more, will not be worth nearly that figure, down the line. That is what hurts the hobby. |

Hello everyone. I’m a noob into the in-depth stories of the comic world. I recent bought the comic on this thread online and was wonder as my first comic; is the story line which is the same as the first one issued many years ago, with just a change to the front cover? Or is it a completely different story than the original. Thank you!
