"Comic Book Men" & Its Impact On The Market5968

Collector 00slim private msg quote post Address this user
It seems every time an item is featured on this show, there's a huge spike in e-bay sales.

Foolkiller was a dollar bin book but sets were selling for hundreds after being in the spotlight on the show a year or so ago. Of course prices have settled back down.

Now, as of this morning, Alf #48 is pretty hot due to being on last night's episode. If you have a few copies, I'd suggest listing them ASAP if you're interested in a quick sale.

ALF 48 - with it's "Risque Seal Assault" cover has been sought after and collectible for a very long time. Raw on eBay NM copies have long been selling in the $100 range, VF $50'ish and lower grade copies still brought $20-$30. Slabbed a 2.0 sold for $50 last year and 9.0-9.4 is $125 with a 9.8 selling for $350 - before the mention on Comic Book Men show. So this is no dollar bin book going nuts from exposure on the show.

Absolutely. I didn't mean to imply the Alf book was bargain bin stuff. Just that it will be especially hot for the next week or two & will sell perhaps quicker than usual.

I'm only hanging onto mine because I only have one copy. If I had multiples, I'd list a couple now to cash in on the added hype.

This Alf and the Rifleman Log issues are books I wouldn't mind having, but they've been priced out of the comfort zone I have for these types of books.

Got my VG log at an antique mall for $3 last year. One of my luckier scores, and it gets a permanent display on the wall.

I collect the double entendre type covers and the comics where the artist slipped in a hidden nudity panel or message. As I learn of them I'll pick them up. I have a copy of Alf 48 (raw - maybe 9.0) and Rifleman 10 (CBCS 5.5. Here is the Rifleman a couple of others I own that are popular for the double meaning

This cover jumped up for a while (not sure if it maintained its spike) after appearing on the show
