While searching Ebay I came across this listing claiming it is an error but I don't see any notation by CGC about it. What do you think? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Spawn-9-CGC-SS-9-6-Signed-By-Todd-McFarlane-1993-1st-Print-RARE-COLOR-ERROR/323123900024?hash=item4b3baf6e78:g:SzQAAOSwpFtan5xn

Effort to gain sale I suppose? It probably is a 9.6 because of the error. I only say that because the label does not mention it has a manufacturer's error on it.

If it was a manufacturing error, CGC would have green labeled it. CGC graders notes may mention color loss on FC. I'd buy the label notes from CGC, don't accept them from the seller. A 1st press operator (1st pressman) could say with more certainty but the uneven color swatch(not sure of that is the technical term) makes me think the seller lightly dry cleaned the inks off that area and tried to pull a fast one. If it was an error, the pattern would lkely (?) be in a straight line, not spread out a bit towards the left corner of the logo. IIIRC, Ricketts worked in printing, he might be able to tell you. BronzeBruce13....A CGC boardie is a very reputable presser (whom I know from shows in my area and selling raws to)....IIRC, he has experience in printing, as well. But either way,I'd imagine that an experienced printer could not say with certainty, unless the book was cracked and examined in hand. I could be mistaken, though...not sure about printing swatch patterns but if that is a dead giveaway, ask Ricketts to chime in. |

Looking at all these themed threads lately, I should pattern overlap several key books on the floor in front of the sliding glass door on the south side all summer. Be rich in the fall from selling all my “error” books.

Or place a black stencil over a graded book and set it in a tanning bed so that you get a faded spot of a hand giving someone the finger. Then you could have a "shooting you a bird" error comic. I remember when error comics were scorned and considered undesirable. |

Seriously though, there may be money to be made there but you'd have to pay for the re-grading costs...but you may be able to reel in a big fish/crazy over errors to do so. Btw, I am actually embarrassed that I said it could have been dry cleaned...but in my defense, I was looking at the slab on a 1 inch screen on my cell, at the time. ![]() ![]() |

I thought only restored comics get the dreaded green labels and if its a recognised manufacturing error it gets blue or yellow if signed . Like the spawn #1 manufacturing errors
