Personal Collecting Goals?5915

I just recently completed my Conan 1-200 run and I only need about 26 issues for X-Men 6-320. Almost all 12 cent Marvels and DC’s in high grade interest me. And just about any great cover (horror, science fiction, good girl art) will also get my attention.

Well Geewiz, after 8 total years of collecting I find myself with 10 of your 13, I will eventually get the last 3. As I collect keys, the number I do not have keeps shrinking, at some point I will draw a line and be done. Don’t have the mindset to ever do a run. However, what I consider cool covers, pre code horror and Superman turning Lois Lane into a black woman, atomic explosions and the like, that is the true addiction for me. For those, value is unimportant. I separate those from the keys, which one day I will sell.

My goals are much simpler. I want to pare down my collection to maybe 444 comic books give or take. I will use the killer cool cover method of determining the ultimate winners. Not focused on particular keys, characters, runs, or artists. Just the pure appeal of the cover artwork from my viewpoint. Thus I will probably end up with a wide range of high dollar to $1 issues. Not focused on the absolute highest grade for each winner. I do take good care of my comic books but a few dings in the bling doesn't bother me - brings some character to the comic. I don't have to have them slabbed or signed but will probably end up with a few of those. I want to construct a nice wall display (already have a few unique ideas on that) that holds around 24 comic books to hang at eye level. This way my friends can get a great look at the art. Obviously I'll rotate the set on occasion. I want a nice clear holder for each comic book that gives access should I or someone else want to read or flip through them. That's pretty much it.

I am still 1300 comics short of my collecting goal. Realistic will never get there as I try to go as high grade I can afford. Trying to do a full run high grade WDCS #1-263. I am about half way and picking up other keys on my way |

Nothing to exciting but I Need #4,16,22 and 25 to finish off my Nova volume 1 series. All are in NM/M. I had chances to finish it but have been picky about the condition. Not sure what I will do next. Probably something done by Jack Kirby like the Eternals. I already have a lot of them in high grade so it would not be too hard. |

I actually just finished two of my goals, grading the five Harley Quinn Aspen covers as well as getting ASM #129 and all the north American reprints signed and graded. Next I have a stack of books making their way to CBCS. I’m trying to collect all Punisher #1s signed and graded, plus getting more sketch covers commissioned |

Kind of lost....maybe 2 years back I completed my Teen Titans orignal series full run including the 1&2nd appearances from Brave and Bold and the 3rd in Showcase. Also have the 1980 full run but not full run of Tales of Teen Titans - might fill that out?? Would like to get Y-the Last Man #1 to fill that run - but not a priority. Other than that I might look at selling a large portion of my collection (just over 7k books) and maybe get a handfull of keys in return... |

Looking to get the first 10-12 issues of the 1984 marvel transformers series in 9.6 or better...currently have 1-6 & 8. I actually have the full run, but now I want slabbed versions. I'll also take 9.4 or higher slabbed copies of other covers in the series that I like...including the last issue which I just lost an eBay auction tonight. Also looking to complete a run of DC Star Trek comic (1st series, 1984)..grade doesn't matter much. I have the marvel run 1-18. Also picking away at the gold key comics...would like the full collection of photo and painted covers...doesn't have to be NM or VF, but they should be free of major aesthetic defects (5.0 or higher). S'bout it for runs. |

I am currently 13 issues each away from completing the Conan the Barbarian and Savage Sword of Conan full runs (275 and 235 issues respectively). I already have the full run of King Conan/Conan the King. A lot of the issues are not in high grade so it is more just trying to complete them and then later worry about upgrading for condition. I have only started trying to fill in the holes over the last couple of years as I was away from the hobby for over 20 years. I have been managing to find some of the missing issues at local cons or at my LCS but since I'm so close now I may have to start hitting up Ebay. |

I'm a bit of a slacker on my goals... From the time I was a kid, it was Giant Sized X-Men by 30, X-Men 1 by 40, and everything after, of course... So, I have from the low 120's and up, no gaps, to current, plus just about every single offshoot book (not counting Deadpool), special, mini, blah blah blah, and a few random issues before 120, but nothing below the 90's. Still now GSX... No issue 1. 30 passed... 40 passed... If I ever hit those, I'll start working up the quality of any that need it. ![]() Besides that, I think I'd try to get FF prior to 100 (I think I have everything after issue 100), then ASM, then Avengers. But, only filling in up to wherever my collection starts. Obviously, I started as a Marvel zombie, and that's where the majority of my collection stands, despite buying a lot of other things over the years, especially now. :P If I stopped buying NEW, I'd have a good amount of money every month to start buying that precious Silver! |

Trying to finish my HG run of the b/w mag Monsters Unleashed. HG copies of any Legion of Monsters characters. Mid grade Daredevil #1, my grail book. Thinking of taking the dive into collecting Creepy. My #1 is lonely. And less modern purchases. |

Although I want to buy less, I am still looking to complete a set of Tales To Astonish Vol. 1. I already have #1, #27, #44 and all of the Hulk issues. I'm buying any Charlton Adult Comics that I don't own. I've made an offer on the only known surviving copy of Atlas-Seaboard's My Secret #2, but the seller is holding out for top dollar. I offered my maximum buy price for the low grade copy, so I'll do without. I don't care if I get them or not. It's just something to stay in the collecting arena. |

I am always buying Nova #1 in high grade when I see them and the price is right. |

My goal is to figure out what my goal is. I realy need to get rid of a lot of books and organize what I have but every time I go to a con or an LCS, I wind up with something that has nothing to do with what I think I went for. I collect a lot of Batman and Punisher. Hopefully 2018 will be the year I get more focused / organized.
