Here are some interesting and informative articles on the fading qualities of different kinds of light.

http://www.lindsaydaniel.com/library/increasing-your-homes-value/articlescolumns1/control-light-sources-to-keep-art-from-fading.html

and if you want an extended science lesson into how light fades and light protection, then this is the article for you....

very informative articles, thank you for the links and concerns. I have duel pane uv protectant windows throughout the house and the blinds and curtains usually always drawn. the light in the back room is never on unless someone is in there. the comics will be fine. and if not, so be it. me and the kiddo have too much fun looking at them. life is far too short for these not to be enjoyed and the memories not to be made. when I am eventually dead and gone, she will still have the memories. to me, that is worth way more than any comic book would ever be.

This is what the Louvre does:
no direct sunlight, only indirect,
UV protection on windows,
LED lights,
no blue or violets in LED mostly yellow,
You can easily do the same,

never thought of getting LED lights. they're not super cheap but not outlandishly priced. hell, I can swing by lowes on the way home from work tonight and pick up a few. thanks!

no prob. LEDs are only light with single colour wavelength. Therefore most LEDs have zero UV. Just don't buy anything in the 400-450 wavelength because that's UV/blue wavelengths. Anything in 500+ is good green/yellow/red, higher wavelength more towards the red. Look for the ones with no blue because blue/violets/UV are the most damaging colours of regular light to furniture, textiles, paintings and our eyes. SO DON'T BUY WHITE LEDs. Yellowish is the best because no blues and our eyes don't mind the colour.

this is the same principle as in the ocean. When you go diving, the deeper underwater you go, the bluer the light because it penetrates further than other light wavelengths.

Thanks man, going LED. Moved a couple books yesterday to be prudent about light hitting them, but I gotta roll in my treasure. Or at least see them, hung as art.

@DarthLego Thank you. I left some out for the picture to show hoe the brackets hang on the wall. Pretty simple set up, and very easy to work with. I just wish I had more wall space. LOL

Meant to post this earlier. A good tube review on comicmount. Very cool that it has multiple options including for action figures. Cant do that with others.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! Someone deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, Inventor of the Year Award or whatever for these things.

(That's them in Mathyus_42's picture above being used as a wall mount.)

Thanks, and yes, that is what I am using. I would for sure get more of them if I had more wall space for my books. I have not tried to use them on the shelves, as my method for those works great.

I've been hesitant to hang any graded comics on any of my walls. Frankly, I'm concerned that, due to the weight, they will fall down.
What have some of you used to hang them on the wall so they will be secure?

I really like how I have mine hung. Look at the picture I have a few posts up, and the link that is in another for a YouTube video about them. They have other uses, not just for comics.

Do you own any CBCS slabs? They are significantly lighter and sleeker than CGC slabs.

They hold up to 20 pounds. A CGCS comic weighs practically nothing. A simple little nail is sufficient but you can use wall anchors used for heavy paintings if you like.

AGREED! and they are different sized too. I have made frames for both cgc and cbcs graded books (thank you miter saw and router!) and of course, they are just a wee bit taller and wider.

The Comic Mounts are great because they can be adjusted for different sizes, and can hold up to 20 pounds. I used screws instead of nails, just for the added security. I rarely use nails for anything.

Thanks for all the feedback. I have a few Comic Mounts, but my older daughter uses one to display a CGC graded comic in her bedroom she received as a graduation gift. I've used the other two to hold my old Rotary plaques. I wasn't able to find anythingthat would keep them on my home office wall until I ordered the Comic Mounts.

I've used www.frameitagainsam.com. I don't generally display them like this, but from time to time I'll hang one up for a period. Just away from direct sunlight.
