Superman 75 3rd Print Newsstand5699

Collector CopperAgeKids private msg quote post Address this user
I know that one of the later printings of Sups 75 is worth a decent chunk of coin.

I am pretty sure it is the 3rd print newsstand.

Mycomicshop and no other online retailer has this specific book listed on their sites.

Not just for in stock items, but for books that are not in stock, as well.

Like Batman 457 2nd print newsstand, MCS does not have this nook listed at all, on their site.

(Or if they do now, it wasn't listed intil very recently. )

So, my question is....can anyone shed some light on whether or not this is the legit rare later printing of Superman #75?

I vaguely remember a raw copy of a later print of Sups 75 selling for about $500 on eBay.

That sale was talked about on this board.

I recall Doc Brown remarking on it, stating it was indeed a very tough book to find.

I can't find that thread on here , or any other mention (or offerings) of a Sups 75 3rd print newsstand via Google....so common sense would indicate that this book is the tough one.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. If you search for "Superman 75 3rd print" on eBay, there seems to be several for sale. The really high priced issues are signed and graded.

I don't think any of those are the newstand version.

I am talking about the newsstand edition of Superman #75 3rd print.

There are zero copies of that book on eBay. Active or completed listings.

I searched about a dozen pages easily, if not more, on Google using all of the possible search strings possible for this book (as noted below) and found no examples of this book anywhere.

1)
Superman #75 3rd Print Newsstand

2)
Superman #75 3rd Print News stand

3)
Superman #75 3rd Print UPC

4)
Superman #75 Variant

5)
Superman #75 rare/scarce/toughest/scariest ...and whatever else I could think of.

Zero hits.

The only possible leads I got were to a couple threads on the CGC Forums, but saw no mention of Superman 75 3rd print newsstand on there.

I am sure the book has been talked about before on here, and over on the CGC Forums, I just can't find those threads.

Yes, I am aware of Doc's Superman #50 2 print newsstand find.

That is not the book I have.

I just used Batman 457 2nd print newsstand as a an example of a somewhat similar book.

Yeah, I am familiar with the information on those 2 books.

Ugh.

I pressed 2 copies of Bat 457 2nd print newsstand for CarlElvis from the CGCForum, and he posted on here a bit too.

It took me a long time to do the work for him and get his books back to him.

That ; but mostly because of my subsequent ban from the CGC Forums about a month after I gave him a contract for the books and received them... made him think I was planning on screwing him and keeping his books.

Back story on that is while I was serving a 2 week suspension from the CGC Forums for participating in a thread the night of the 2016 presidential (or Our Dear Leader, more aptly put) election...a CGC Boardie who had an issue with me created a CGC account using a proxy IP address whuch mirrored my IP address...said d-bag than posted a link to a promo tgread I already had running on thos forum for a Blackhawk 133 CBCS 3.5 Buy it now listing of mine on eBay...this was done to make it appear as if ai had created a shill accpunt, which said individual knew would get me banned from that forum.

Said d-bag created another faked account using a proxy server agsin, to mimic my IP address for the 2nd time after I was already banned.

Said bag posted on the CGC Forum; mostly insulting other CGC board while stating he was me.

I never did appeal the ban I got from that nut case's actions, I had enough on my plate dealing with accusations from CGC and CBCS boardies that I was trying to steal Carl Elvis' so books.

That Iceman character (Iceman with a bunch of numbers after his name)from the CBCS forums trolled me on this board, calling me a thief.

It was him, or one of 2 other boardies who had severe dislike for me, who created the fake shill account under my app address.

Another CGC Boardie , who had sent 2 boxes of about 40 slabbed books for consighment on eBay, also contacted me asking for me to ship the books back (after I had been paying him as each slab had sold on eBay for about a month)....I explained to him the situation and told him I was not going to start keeping his money from eBay sales.

Told him I would continue to sell the books and contine to send him his end via paypal, as we had been doing..just as I did as I had sold the first box of slabs he sent me, one by one.

I told him I would ship the books back to him in Canada but since I did not break the consignment contract I had with him, he would have to pay for return shipping.

He asked me to just pay him for the slabs but it would have been at a rate where ai would have too much tied up and would make the same as the 25% consignment fee I was charging him.

During our back and forth discussion, , his slabs continued to sell via BIN on eBay and ai continued to pay him as we agreed.

So I just ended up keeping them and sold them all for him via BIN's and paid him just as I had been doing.

I really should appeal that ban, the headache that caused me and the fact some nut job made me look so bad really had me bent.

I don't worry about that stuff...and I don't judge a soul unless they've directly impacted me or my family in either a positive or negative way. Life's too short brother. I just want to collect comics and wake up the next morning

Nah, that "stuff" has real world consequences.

I am going to submit the appeal before I do the Big Apple next month.

All the CGC moderator has to do is look into how IP addresses are faked using proxy IP addresses.

And she will see that was a smear job against myself, from a mentally ill individual.

I am pretty sure I know who the guy was.

He is banned from this board now, and trolled myself on here for months, as well as trolling me...and Kav on the CGC Forums for months.

I know that because Kav sent me a PM about that troll, asking me to report him and told me his history with the troll.

The troll was unemployed and good with computers, I know that from his postings on the CGC Forums.

Add in a grudge against some dude on a message board because you don't like what he posts, and you have the perfect storm for a hostile and warped character going on a well crafted rampage against myself.

Yeah, I have the book in my possession.

I can take and post a pic.

But for now, I can tell you it is simply a Superman 75 with the Roman number III in the left corner, just as if it was a 2nd or 4th print.

In place of the Superman direct market insignia on the bottom corner is a UPC code.

That is the cover scan of the book I bought.

Haven't even opened the box yet, came in a lot of 4 or 5 books with another book scanned and used as the cover image.

I hope the top staple isn't detached from the cover, it looks like it may be.

I think that is just because of the gatefold this book has, if I'm not mistaken.

If the staple is popped, I'll list it raw via BIN.

If not, I'll give her a press and sub her at the Big Apple.

4th print newsstands are common.
If you look more, they are all over.

Not so, for 3rd print newsstands.

Come on man, give me *some* credit. I wouldn't have started this thread if I had any indication that it was over a $1 book😉😀😂.

There is definitely something up with 3rd print newsstands of this book.

I spent the better part of an hour researching this book and literally found nothing indicating past sales or current listings.

Or even any record indicating that a 3rd printing was printed in newsstand format, at all.

So yeah, it is definitely rare.

Dunno why, or how, though.

Maybe the bulk of the run was pulped.

Or:

Doomsday came to life and devoured a case of Superman comics, Cookie Monster style
.....and they all happened to be 3rd prints of this issue, which were headed out to newsstands for delivery but they never made it.

😮😮😮

Gonna send Doc Brown a PM about this book if he doesn't post here, he knows coppers like this very well.

https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/314329-superman-75-fourth-printing/?page=2

Fourth result on Google search for "Superman 75 third print newsstand." Why did you spend so much time looking...?

Third print newsstands, while uncommon, are not unheard of. They've been known and discussed on the CGC board for several years.

They aren't even remotely in the same league as Batman #457, but they should carry a small premium over third print directs (which are quite common.)

There is no "2nd print newsstand", but DC tried to make do by applying stickers to direct second prints to satisfy demand (which is bizarre, because they had done 2nd print newsstands AT LEAST 3 times in their past prior to Superman #75...Superman #50, Batman #457, and Robin #1. Guess no one remembered.)

For the record:

1. Superman #75 1st print, regular.

2. Superman #75 1st print, deluxe.

3. Superman #75 Platinum.

4. Superman #75 2nd print.

5. Superman #75 3rd print.

6. Superman #75 3rd print, newsstand.

7. Superman #75 4th print.

8. Superman #75 4th print, newsstand.

Those are the 8 "official" versions of Superman #75, though, of course, the book was printed in other formats many times over. If one wants to get really complete, 2nd print with the newsstand sticker could be included, but I don't recognize it, because it's not its own separate print run.

And no, 3rd print and 4th print newsstands WERE NOT released in collector packs, nor were they printed, like many later books (MOS #18 5th, for example) years after the fact. They were printed, like the directs, to satisfy the voracious demand for this book at the time, probably within a month or two of the book's publication. Like the three (and potentially more) newsstand later printings before it, these books were printed to satisfy immediate demand from DC's newsstand clients, wholly apart from the Direct market.

And this is an example where CGC has done a disservice to the comic collecting community by not noting newsstands.
