Original Optimus Prime question5573

COLLECTOR conditionfreak private msg quote post Address this user
I have a few Optimus Primes in the boxes and apparently complete. But I am stumped by this.

My son in Arizona emailed me and asked if any of the original Optimus Primes came with a "little silver guy" that you could put in the seats.

I can not find anything on the net. But he recently won an auction that comes with this feature.

I'm guessing it is something that someone just added on their own, and not part of the toy.

Anyone know anything about a little silver guy with Optimus? Described as a "Moonman".

Found this in the sold listings on eBay. Those look like the pilots of a toy line from the 80’s called Zoids.

I'm not a Transformers expert, but-

I think the original Japanese Diaclone Optimus Prime came with those Diaclone drivers - where they could sit in Optimus' chest, or in the seats in the Roller, or in the crane thing in the trailer. I'm guessing the "moon man" looks like one of these-

Without seeing it, I'd guess it's a repro that, like you said, someone just added on their own.

The diaclone characters had moveable arms and legs. My brother and I each got one of them for Christmas back in 1983 (diaclone iron hide and sun streaker). Parents ordered them from the Montgomery Ward catalog. Here's a page From the catalog that shows the little "men" that sat in the seat. Looks like what you have there is a zoid guy.

Man, looking through these old catalogs brings me back. Star Wars Kenner action figures, Atari games...(memories....)

I guess they were called diakron in the us pre-transformers
