And signed by Wein!!! Pretty sweet!! That front splash page is a cool one!!

Thanks! I'm really curious about this book's story, I mean, that corner trimming seems like a really strange defect that you can't blame just on wear and tear.

I know I've posted this before, and it's from CGC (until I get it regarded by CBCS), but this is one of two favorite Batman covers.

BATMAN #9 (February/March 1942)

My other favorite Batman cover is Detective Comics #29, but with the way the prices have gone on that book, it doesn't seem likely that I'll own one anytime soon.

My personal grails are treasures I've admired, but never expected to own. Luck, being in the right place at the right time and knowing people with the right connections paved the way for opportunity. I'm sure some folks here have seen these before, but not in this thread.

Original Art grails

Alex Schomburg orig. gouache painting recreating Marvel Mystery #66 (Sept. '45), the last Timely Human Torch war cover (the Ninja format limits image sizing, but trust me, the framed painting is magnificent):

My second original art grail is an oil painting by George Rozen for The Shadow magazine (June 15, 1942):

Here's one of my Grails. A nice, presentable 'Tales of Suspense' #1.

Comic Book Grails:

I consider a grail book any comic that I've passionately sought for years and finally acquired in grade. Here are several...

Had to add one more because it was just too hard choosing between 'em and they're both grails.

Very nice!
The signature is tastefully done on the first page like it should be.
Congratulations on a great find!

This was a grail I sought for a while: Large Feature Comic #8. Also considered to be Bugs Bunny #1 ( first comic devoted to the cartoon icon). 1942

@dielinfinate Yeah the one I'm working on is a 6.5 white pages. It'll be a long journey but I'll get that. Still pretty jealous of yours though

@Wolverine Thanks! And good luck with that book! I figure these coverless books don't set me back that much from getting one in a nice grade so why not pick it up now to get it in the collection?

For me it would have to be Cerebus #1. I've been a huge Cerebus fan since I bought my first books at my local shop in the early 1980's. It took nearly 15 years to complete my run, and when I finally got a chance to purchase a #1 I was thrilled, especially since it's signed on the first page "An authentic number 1, no s@&t, really -Dave Sim". It's one of the gems of my collection. Since then I've secured a second (unsigned) copy, and that's the scan shown.

My grails are a bit different than most.
I've wanted a copy of this book for a long time. However, it goes for big money on ebay. I was at a small local show a couple years ago, just looking through a couple unsorted boxes and pulled out a copy. I almost fell over. Fast forward about a year later, I'm at the same local show, going through more unsorted boxes from the same seller and pull out another copy!!!!

I've been a fan of Richie Rich since I was a small child in the 70s. Always wanted a RR #1. Finally got the chance to pick one up several years ago. I would like to upgrade someday

Richie Rich was my first comic book purchase. I also liked Casper, some of the Donald Duck comics and Hot Stuff!! I've just recently begun buying some Hot Stuff comics. Good stuff!!

That's super cool. My friend's parents were really into Peanuts. I think they met Charles Schulz at one point and he signed a couple of their big Peanuts anthology books. That's an awesome find.

I had pretty much resigned myself to never owning one copy, never mind two. Just too expensive. Got great deals on them both. Sometimes you get lucky.
