If CBCS Presses & Re-Grades a Red Label?5395

I have a CBCS Verified red label book that I'm considering having pressed & re-graded. I know I'd have to pay for the re-grade, as well as the Pressing. What I was wondering is, since the sig is already Verified by CBCS, if I send it in for CBCS to press it & re-grade it, would I be charged for Verification again? |

I wouldn't think so - they will receive the book, crack it, press and re-grade - 'chain of custody' is not broken so no need to re-charge for verification.

Cracking & pressing verified signature (red) labels is no different than cracking & pressing witnessed (gold) signature labels. As long as CBCS, or a CBCS authorized presser such as CFPComics, presses the book, you will not pay for signature verification again. Just make sure, if you're not having CBCS press the book, that your presser is authorized to work on red and gold label slabs. |

I cracked open my own ugly rivet red labels. I have been pressing and cleaning them this week. I'll just pay again if I have to, I suppose. I didn't really think about it.

Either pay for pressing or reauthenticating it's the same either way, right?

Quote:Originally Posted by kaptainmyke Nope, not really. CBCS and CFP don't charge much for pressing, at all. Like $15 or so. Which is stupid cheap IMHO. I would never charge anywhere near that low to press a book. They make up for it in volume of books they press, though. Red label signature verification is , going by memory so I'm sure my numbers are not accurate, like $25 for the first verified signature, than like $15 per signature (or per book), after the first one. If you needed the red labels pressed out quickly, like sigs on hot moderns, than I could see doing the work yourself with dry cleaning & pressing. If not, it makes way more sense to pay CBCS to do your work for you, instead of paying for verification fees for a second time on each book. |

After factoring shipping, time, duration, $20-$25 for CBCS to press books, and it also adds like another 2-3 months in TAT. So, yes it's the same either way. You guys just love arguing on this forum. |

Personally, I'd fast track both Grading & Pressing either way.
