Buyers be warned (eBay seller)5215

Collector comic_book_man private msg quote post Address this user
eBay seller Brunsfam is buying restored books, cracking them, and reselling as "unrestored".

I noticed he left CGC archival paper in the book I received, yet his story was that it was from his father's collection. I dug a little deeper, found a restored book in his purchase history - same exact book.

Be sure to block him ASAP.

**UPDATE** You may also want to block ducatidesmod16rr, read further to see why.

...now he claims that the restored book he bought was for his "sons collection" and not this book - compared photos, all the same unique markers on the book. Seriously makes me sick that people do this crap. May be my last eBay transaction.

He has 100% Positive feedback. If you got screwed, can't you return the item? What does eBay have to say?

@OGJackster Oh I am definitely returning the item, and he will eat the shipping. However, I just wanted to share the practices of this guy so no one here gets screwed in the future. I mean he even has the pretend story and just keeps going on and on with new twists and turns...

Please make sure the feedback you leave is factual and within ebay’s Guidelines. Maybe the reason he has 100% feedback is that he has managed to ask ebay to remove other negatives.

FYI eBay allows you to use the word “fraud” in the feedback.

@KingNampa The seller has been reported for fraud, my eBay rep believed this to be the best plan of action. He willing buys unoriginal items to sell them as original...ie fraud.

Here are some of the comparison photos I took to show how the books are an exact match - clear as day:
(apologies for the one with the typo, corrected)

I was about to ask, if it was the FF #48, right before you posted the update. I had looked up his profile based on your original post and, independently, saw the fraud you mentioned myself. What scum. He even lies about the grade!

I may report him myself, just to hammer it home.

Thanks for sharing.

@Tedsaid I, and others I'm sure, would greatly appreciate it.

The worst part about this whole thing is the story that the guy creates, even when I catch him in the lie and include the photos...he still believes he's the hero. It makes my stomach churn.

I mean at the very least he accepts returns, but sadly that's probably how he keeps his feedback 100% positive and why no one suspects the fraud. I just wonder how many others have been burned 3 months later pursuing his "money back guarantee" only to find out that the eBay return policy is expired and they cant leave feedback...

Woah...guys, I am connecting something here.

I bought another FF48 a few weeks ago that I had to return that was listed as "original" turned out it had a huge amount of color touch too. That transaction went smoothly and didn't pose any questions since the seller said he just didn't know it had restoration...but now I am wondering.

These two sellers are BOTH out of Oregon, AND with the same counter top.
Coincidence?

ducatidesmod16rr seemed nice and processed my return with no issues, but he had a similar story and one of the books he sold me also had archival paper in it.

Can anyone find the connection between these two - or perhaps its just a coincidence, and that counter top, and restored FF48s are common in Oregon?

Both of the books received were different, and the sellers names/addresses are different - but they are both Oregon, and both with the same counter top and camera angle photo...

Are both sellers still active? If so, look at their auctions to see if there is a similar description style or picture angles/backgrounds.

It could also be that one bought it from the other and just reused the photos when trying to flip the book...which is against eBay policies I believe as well!
