Dumb question.

How does this FCBD thing work? Do you just go to an LCS and take one of each for free. or do you just get one copy of one issue? And what does it mean about Gold and Silver groups?

I have never participated in FCBD and don't have a clue.

They usually have tables laid out with all freebies. Almost all of them are marked FCBD.

Typically, there also indie comics that aren't advertised. Last year the kids walked out with about ten comics each. I snagged like three that looked interesting.

Thanks, that helps. But what is the reason for Gold and Silver designations?

It sounds like each store decides how much it is doing. This is from the FCBD FAQ section.

"3. Are they really free?
Yep!
Different shops have policies on how many free comics you can receive, but you will receive at least one free comic if you enter a participating shop location. Check with your retailer for their policies and plans for FCBD."

I'm still looking for gold and silver definitions.

Silver and gold are just levels of sponsorship. For instance, Marvel is a gold sponsor. They don't have any silver levels listed yet.

FCBD sponsor link.

@conditionfreak
My sons and I have participated in FCBD for a few years. It really depends on the shop. Some let you take as much as you want, some are 1 per customer. Last year, a local shop gave 1 free and additional ones with purchases. Some shops have artists and activities. Other have nothing going on.
