So obviously PGX graded comics are not valued as much as cbcs and cgc. I was wondering what percent would you value a PGX graded comic compared to cbcs/cgc? Say a cbcs/cgc graded comics is selling for around $100 what would you offer if the same comic was graded by PGX.

Raw value of the book and that’s assuming you don’t need a restoration check. PGX sucks.

Depends on the grade if they say 9.9, no way.

So are we talking 50% of the going rate? Or avoid PGX graded books at all costs?

Just treat it like a raw book, and bid accordingly.

We tried PGX for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. Very fast and had great customer service. If you are going to resell it, then I wouldn't suggest it as a lot of people don't care for PGX books. If it is for your personal collection and just want a book slabbed, then I say go for it. As it is cheap and fast

I won an auction for a graded book on eBay, and since the seller combined, I bought another item. A PGX X-Men 233 9.9 for $30. A conversation piece. No other reason. Probably be the only PGX I ever own.

This would be more for buying. I have been in the market for a Demon 1 and I am having problems finding a 8 or better for a decent price. I am hesitant to buy any older comics that are graded by PGX because I heard they are terrible at catching restoration.

No do not apply a percent value against a cbcs blue grade. The same reason you should not put a restored value based on percent of cbcs blue grade. To many variables depending on what book and what grade.

Assuming there's no restoration on the book I drop PGX books by 2.5 points and pay accordingly. If PGX says the book is a 7.5 I'll pay for a 5.0. Still there's a risk because there's a high probability restoration hasn't been checked. PGX is garbage in my opinion. Crack 'em and resubmit to CBCS but expect a downgrade.

I just cracked a couple PGX books out to press amd resubmit to cbcs. Thas what PGX is worth, worth a cracking.

As you are seeing by the responses, it's hard to determine a true value.
Some people say "raw value" but Ive seen many PGX books go for more than raw.

It depends on the book involved, and the willingness you have for risk.
I think PGX is pretty accurate (if not tougher) on Modern grades from what I've seen and read.
PGX's grading of older books are hit or miss for consistent grading in relation to CBCS/CGC's grades(generally a few grades inflated). Sometimes small amounts of restoration are missed.

If you want the honest truth, you will never get a clean/consistent answer so just use your own judgement.

I recently purchased my first PGX slab. I have been trying to buy the first series X-Men comics (numbers 67-93] that were reprints of the earlier issues. Because they were not new material and I already had the original issues, I didn’t bother buying them when I was putting together my X-Men collection in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Now, however, when I see that hole in my collection, my mind tells me that I need to be a completist so I have been hunting for them.
Judging by what is available at cons and on ebay, I wasn’t the only collector not buying them. They are not hard to find in low or even mid-grades, but when nice ones become available, the asking prices are all over the place and usually way over guide values. I have been fortunate to get some raws in auctions that at least look decent.
Sorry, back to PGX.
A seller on ebay had an issue that I needed, but it was a 9.4 in a PGX slab. The price was lower than the same grade in a CGC or CBCS slab, so I put it on my watch list. Then I waited, hoping a raw or even a lower grade copy in a CGC or CBCS slab would turn up. None did, so when the seller’s listing was about to expire, I made him an offer for the book that I based on a 8.5 raw copy. I was surprised when he took my offfer, and to be honest, the book doesn’t look overgraded. While I am not looking for any more PGX slabs, I am not automatically eliminating them from my searches. Use your eyes to study the scans, ask for more or better scans if needed, and decide if it’s worth it to you or not.

Midtown Comics has a raw Stuntman # 1 NM on their wall for $2,500 so to the extent that a PGX graded book is basically an ungraded raw book it could be quite valuable. Just don't hold your breath expecting the same grade if you crack it out and give it to CBCS or CGC.

Whenever I bid on a PGX I bid assuming that it is overgraded by 2 points (ie 9.0 becomes 8.0). If more expensive book I take it down by 4 points. Worked ok so far

I don't purchase any graded books from any company unless they are roughly the same dollar amount as a comparable raw copy in the same grade. However, I sell tons of graded comics that I personally get graded.

Oh they are out there! I like picking up a graded book for less than the grading fee - must really burn the seller - but then a $20 or $40 book graded to 9.4-9.8 doesn't always mean hundreds of $$$ - sometimes the book is just a $20 or $40 book

This is my opinion on PGX:

Pro's:
-Fast TAT (1 month at the most for standard service)
-Will verify a signature on almost anything (see below)
-Cheapest option for grading
-I've had no problem selling my PGX books for a profit.

Meh:
-Grading is hit or miss. But for example I had a Defenders #1 PGX 9.0, I submitted it to CBCS and got back same, 9.0. I tried to post picture before but it got removed so just believe me, k.
-Supporting a small business out of someone's garage? LOL

Con's:
-Hard to trust the verified signatures (see above)
-I've sent PGX books to CGC and CBCS and got back 2 grades lower. For example. Silver Surfer #1 PGX 9.0 came back CBCS 7.0
-Has had problems around 5 years ago with missing trimming and restoration on books. I haven't heard about any problems recently.

I have many PGX graded books. But I have never purchased one already graded by them. All of mine were submitted by me. And I will not be sending them any more to grade.

But I could see me buying a PGX graded book under certain circumstances. Like maybe a Werewolf By Night #32 in PGX 9.4 for $500.00

No matter what some here say, I think ALL of us would buy the right book at the right price, in a PGX slab.

Never say never.

I used to use PGX for the simple reason that I live near him and we were one of the stores that supported him in Oregon. Then I offered him first shot at the biggest collection of books I had ever seen. Over 5,000 books with multiple copies of virtually every Bronze age key you can think of. Tomb of Dracula 10 x 10, Amazing Spider-Man 129 x 5, House of Secrets 92 x 10, X-Men 94 and Giant Size #1 multiples, 2 full runs of Conan in NM, it was beautiful. He comes in and offers me and the person I was selling it for $500 and insisted that the books were not worth much. Treated me like an ignoramus. I was able to parcel the books of for the lady to other people and get some myself, but after that it was CGC.
