In an otherwise 9.8 worthy book, would this bindery tear keep me from it or even from a 9.6? I find it on the large side and distracts from the overall appearance in my opinion. |

Everything else being perfect, i would suggest it would be a 9.4 at best. it is quite a large bindery tear and although its essentially a manufacture defect, it looks like its maybe taken a knock at some point. | ||

Based on my ASM #300, I am going to say you would probably get a 9.0 like I did. Without that defect, this book was a 9.6 candidate. |

Assuming the book is a 9.8 otherwise, as you say, that's a 9.6 type flaw. 9.4 or lower is much too harsh for that. | ||
