So I am planning on giving Comic Link a try for finding some of my wants. From what I gathered, there is a buyers premium (3%) and you also have to add shipping/handling which is around $20. Can you combine auction and exchange buys to save on shipping? Can you actually find deals on the site? I looked at some of the auction prices and it looks like you can get better deals on Ebay.

If you don't purchase 5 comics then you can instruct them to hold them until the next auction. At that point, you can combine the shipping. Personally, I just buy comics in 5's so I'm always getting the most bang for my buck in an auction. You can always find slabs to add unto your order for much less than what the shipping and slabbing fees would be if you decided to send them in.

You'll get much better deals at Comic Link vs eBay pricing on most books.

Take my advice. only bid on comic books OR original art. DO NOT bid on both at the same time. I made that mistake and won 9 comic books and 1 piece of original art. When I got the confirmation emails saying that I won and they're going to send my 9 comic books shipping would be $20.00 and my 1 piece of original art shipping would be $20.00. I called Comic Link and told them to combine the 10 items so I would only pay $20.00 instead of $40.00 and was told "No" that it is their policy to send them separately and it would be $40.00. Now, with mycomicshop.com, they combine items up to 10 items for the low low price of $4.95. In my opinion.........COMIC LINK SUCKS!!

I don't know about that. I win auctions all the time on mycomicshop and their prices have been pretty low. Maybe the comic books I've won few people want.

Most of the items your seeing on Ebay are consignment items from MycomicShop. Consignors can price their items for however much they feel they can get hence the crazy prices on a lot of their items. Plus they mark the items up to cover Ebay listing prices. If you go to their website the items can be had for cheaper. They also have a weekly auction that has consignment items being auctioned off and deals can be had , grading is usually pretty tight.

I been buying from Comic Link for years and have never had an issue. I wish that they weren't becoming such a powerhouse for items. More people knowing about them means that items are as good a deal as they used to be. I'd rather pay their shipping fees and 3% credit card charge than pay the buyer's fig and shipping at the other well known auction house for comics. Hey, everyone has different ideas, and experiences. I hope your buying days at My Comic Shop continue going smoothly. That means one less person bidding on stuff when the C-Link auctions end over the next 2 weeks!

I bid on both sites also. That's not the problem. My problem is I paid $40.00 when for the same amount of items (both comic books and original art) I paid $35.05 more through Comic Link. That extra cash could have been spent on something else. That's my objection.

So how to the exchanges work? I see there is an asking price and you can also bid on it. Do these end at a specific time?

So how do the Exchanges work? So for instance a comic has a price of $80 with an option to bid on it. I enter the amount I want to spend and then what? How long does your offer stand?
Post 17 IP   flag post
Collector jrs private msg quote post Address this user
@moodswing, I believe it's like a best offer, such that the buyer can accept the price, counter, or do nothing and/or reject it. Can't recall how long it lasts, but it's a few days. You can then increase your bid.

Keep in mind that the waitlist books -- those that someone has already agreed to purchase, but that give you the option to "waitlist" the book in case the sale falls through -- are not regularly updated, or so it seems. I've even seen the exact same book available to be waitlisted at different prices.

Go figure.

So I put in a bid for an exchange item. It looks like you have to go through a checkout process after this even without the seller accepting the offer? I won an auction so I would like to buy a couple more comics to save on shipping. Will this automatically be adjusted when I actually pay for the auction comic too? Site is a little more confusing than I thought.

So I am up to 3 auctions won. Shipping says $20 for up to 3 books. Anyone know how much shipping is for more books? I was thinking of winning 5 total auctions but if I have to pay another $20 for shipping, I think I would just stay at 3.

Well, just completed my first Comiclink order. Ended up with 7 books and spent way more than I originally anticipated spending. Had to make that shipping cost worth it

If anyone is wondering about shipping costs, the first 3 are $20 then 4-10 is $25. Goes up in increments after that.

To my knowledge the books on CL's actions are held in house. I could be wrong but I've never had to wait for an owner to send something to them on an auction purchase.
