As a kid growing up in England in the 1970s, I was obsessed with the show 'Cannon' and indeed many things American, including comic books. When I moved to the States in '82 I vowed someday to have a version of his land yacht, the Lincoln Mk IV. I acquired the car nearly 7 years ago, and unfortunately it's become obscenely expensive non-running money pit. On the upside, I was delighted when I discovered that a significant number of 'Cannon' comic strips were published in Britain in TV Comic and another title 'Target', featuring artwork by Martin Asbury and original storylines by an as yet undetermined writer. I should have stuck to comics and just bought a photo of the car.

didn't they also do TV 21? TV Action earlier had Dr Who and The Avengers (Steed -& Mrs Peel) as well.

Check on line... there might be a convention for tv detectives.
Also, a list of collectables on the show.
I know the actor started in the days of radio and has done a great variety of acting roles. Good luck.

Oh wow you just brought back a lot of memories. I remember in my teens a group of friends and I would always make sure we watched the episode of Cannon that played late Friday night before we would head off to our parties. That car was absolutely massive. I used to enjoy at the end of an episode where Cannon would get on the phone and order up a sandwich. Something like: " Cannon here, send me over a ham on rye ! "
lol good times for sure. Thanks for sharing.

Speaking of Martin Asbury, I've often felt he would have benefited from better exposure among the ranks of Marvel and/or DC as did his compatriots and contemporaries Barry Windsor-Smith and John Byrne. I love his work, but it was confined to strip comics and later storyboard work for the movie studios. He has a fascinating website clickable text. I contacted him a few years back by phone with the notion I might buy some of his original Cannon artwork - he laughed noting that he'd virtually forgotten even drawing it, much less holding on to the art.

Yup, sure did. TV Action (not TV Comic as I erroneously stated in earlier post), Target and TV 21 all had original Cannon strips (along with dozens of other TV shows committed to comic work). I don't collect a whole lot of British material, as I'm far more into American comic books, but I do like to maintain a few good examples. They're cheap to acquire on Ebay UK.

Back in the distant past I knew a kid who was a fan of Asbury and fancied himself as a comics artist. He pencilled and inked a few pages and sent them off to (don't recall the publisher) to be considered. Nothing came from this exercise, but a few months later I met the kid again and he informed me of how angry he was that Martin Asbury has "swiped" his submitted pages in one of the current comics.
