Eventually, if enough people keep asking for it, these grades will be adopted. |

And...it's a 9.0...today. On another go-round...since we know that, by CBCS standards, this is a strong 9.0...it might very well grade that 9.2. That grade is only valid for that book on the day it was graded. Any other day, it could be something else, because........grading is subjective! |

I hope not, I like the current system. And the way Overstreet has it laid out makes sense to me. I don't look forward to adding more grades and complication to the system. |

Quote:Originally Posted by DarthLego Exactly. The last thing needed is to be even more confusing for new people entering an already niche hobby. Think about the people pushing for the 9.1, 9.3 etc grades. Who would they benefit? The seller. Book x in 9.8 worth $500, in 9.6 $150. Seller believes his "crappy" 9.6 should be in a 9.8 holder because grading is just an opinion and his opinion differs from people who get paid to have an opinion. CPR the book in hopes of getting the coveted 9.8? Even better, if the book was a 9.7 then you could split the difference in price between that 9.8 and 9.6. Hmm, maybe it's not so crazy after all ![]() |

Does this apply to all grades or just 9.0 and above? Marty Mann |

Quote:Originally Posted by martymann If it were to be implemented I think it would be for all grades. As it is at present the numerical system is a bit chaotic. It goes up in increments of 0.2 in the 9.0 to 9.8 range but then uses a 9.9 and a 10, whilst in the other grades the increases are by 0.5. And then of course there is that isolated 1.8 at the bottom and then the lower ones again revert to 0.1 and 0.2 steps. ![]() |

I think the grading scale has ended up as it is because different ends of the scale tend to be used for separate ages. Anything below 5-6 isn't used much for modern stuff, but regarding golden age stuff, the 1-2s need to be broken down a bit more | ||
