I bought a meat grinder on amazon for $60 and it's changed my life. kaptainmyke private msg quote post Address this user
7.0 - lots of TTS, spine ticks with color breaks, wrinkles, date stamp, crease lines with color breaks

7.5-8.0 with a press, depending on the stain removal process - looks like foxing

@kaptainmyke is it supposed to have 3 staples??

Still a good looking book, but would not say 8.5.

7.5 on high end. Press might help.

@kaptainmyke date stamp is not considered a defect (may be some people don't like the look)

just mentioning the date stamp, i do not fault it either - as long as it's date appropriate and not stamped yesterday - all good

I did not notice the 3rd middle staple. Move along. Nothing to see here. Amateur stapling.

@nikki666666 looks like a 3rd staple, but doesn't look out of place (even though it is odd). Not sure what to make of that - never seen anything like it.

If it was a factory/printing error, no foul. If someone rebuilt the book - no good.

@nikki666666 can you get a shot of the center pages?

Checking over ebay listings, I didn't see any with a 3rd staple. If this local seller is asking an 8.5 price I would pass.

@QuaBrot I'll ask..

Seems a bit odd. Looked on ebay at other copies but can't see any third staples??

Should not be a third staple unless print defect or someone put it there after the fact, the latter being not good at all.8.5 no way - maybe 6.0 - 6.5 , that staple it is a no from me as well.

Obvious third staple close to Batman's leg. Also pretty clear that it is an extra staple, not a factory/printing error. By my experience there is no record of a middle staple even being possible from World Color Press comics print run.

@nikki666666 I really don't know. If I remember correctly, @Thanatos has a book with extra staples to be graded. Keep us posted on that one man!

The Green Lantern #59? Seller accepted my offer weeks ago from ComicConnect. Tracking info shows it should arrive today! Might be awhile before CBCS makes any kind of judgement call on it lol

They are asking graded 5.5 price for a raw 5.5 in my opinion.

Books from that time period occasionally would be stapled without a cover. Those issues would be re-feed through the machine and emerge with two interior staples and two additional staples that went through the cover and comic. They are not considered a defect and would be noted as extra staples, manufacturing. Also, the only books I can recall seeing with a center staple (and only a center staple) were some issues that were assembled during rationing periods during WWII.

And, the saddle-stitching format of bindery is a fixed position, therefore there is no way that a centre-placed staple could come from the binding process.
