| So I've come across a couple of 1st appearances at a LCS I frequently visit. Sabretooth (Iron Fist #14) & Swamp Thing (House Of Secrets #92). They're in great condition (9.0 - 9.4 on both) & figured since it's my b-day today I'd treat myself to one or both issues. What do u guys think? | ||

| Just inspect it closely. Most likely, it's lower grade, or, a high grade reprint. But, there's always the hope that the seller hasn't checked the market recently. I hope the latter. That would be quite the score. |

 I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for.

| Yes if they're the real deal in that grade range with no restoration for that price buy both. After that once you buy those ask if he has anything else like that. You say it's a shop so it's not like your taking advantage of a little old lady that doesn't know any better. Just be super sure the books are what you think they are. |

| Run, don't walk to that store immediately and wait for it to open. And hope no other customers have been there since you were. Look closely at those books (no hidden defects, missing pages, adds out, etc.) and buy them. And like @JWKyle said, ask to see what other good stuff they have. And bring your credit cards! | UPDATE.. Well, I headed over to pick up the books & sure enough - the HOS got scooped up over the weekend!!! Shite!!! Plus the owner said the price was "accidentally" mislabeled by one of the clerks. He sold it for $650, so I'm not too broken up about it. I wouldn't have been able to swing that right now anyway (bills & such, you know?). The IF though? Added to my collection!! He gave me a break on the price & brought it down to $70. $70 you guys! This is definitely working out to be a great birthday indeed. |
