It will hold, but it will not rise in any significant form over the next decade.

It's jump in price outpaced the overwhelming majority of books, but it's a not going anywhere for a long time to come.

My prediction is that it will dip a bit within the next six months.

@OrbitCityComics Agree, also this is not a low print comic. So scarcity will not be a factor in it's price. The only thing that might be hard to find in the future is an unsigned version.

But the one's that you sold at the peak you can always rebuy them again when they are cheaper. The only books that will continually rise and hold their value are the KEY Golden and Silver age books. Everything else is a roller coaster.

I somewhat disagree. I don't see a majority of the current key books dropping in price all that much. Examples: TWD #1, The Preacher #1, The Batman Adventures #12. If by chance they do in the foreseeable future, the question you have to ask yourself is has the price dropped drastically enough to now purchase and is it now still a good investment?

Someone should create a site that tracks key books in real time like the New York Stock Exchange tracks stock prices.

I think that's what Tommy is trying to do on nostomania, but he's gotta get that real-time ebay data to import. Seeing those charts update with all the major auction sites would be amazing

Why doesn't ebay just do it. They have the resources and they are the source for most of the data.

Issue with that is a lot of high-end or very rare books go through Heritage, CL, etc. If you look at gocollect (mostly just ebay sales) data really isn't available on a lot of golden age books.

The good news is it seems both Nostomania and gocollect are evolving, and eventually (#soon?) will have a good plethora of data from multiple sources. Right now Nosto is 99% heritage and GoC is 99% ebay. Both seem to be working on the vice-versa, but I don't see either of them adding comiclink or the other secondary auction houses yet

The book looks like it is cooling off as the year moves along from last year's sales data. June, July, and early Aug 2017 put the average 9.6 sale (no signature slabs in this figure) at $477.75. Same time period and grade last year was $ 593.18.

I hope that by pointing that out and other people chiming with negative views on whether or not the value of the book will rose that someone who is attempting to sell one doesn't come in let the reader know that only forum trolls throw shade on other people's prospects.

The "majority" of books in ANY era will be outpaced by the "keys". It has always been that way. I am not saying it is going to significantly rise just that it will continue to rise. As for how many there are, that can play a role but it is not cast in stone. There are plenty of expensive books on the market that have lots of existing copies and that has never put a damper on the prices going up.

Despite many people's dislike of this book gaining in value it has been established as a "key" and, as such it will continue to trend to the up side and not come crashing down like so many hope. Yes it will dip or plateau but that is no different than many key books. Hulk 181 was static for many years before it sky-rocketted in value (not to mention outpacing the books of this time as well and no I am not equating NYX 3 with this book just giving it as an example of a book that followed a similar pattern)

This has been a common trend for the book. Much of that average pricing last year was fueled by the anticipated appearance in the Logan movie. With the movie done with the prices have cooled. I am actually hopeful that the prices hold around the current mark for a bit, but who knows the prices have bounced around quite a bit with trends of cooling and heating seeing to come every few months or so when someone gets a new high price.

I hope it continues to trend down. That way in late October or early Nov I can purchase one for around $350
