When did this happen?

I was at my LCS today picking up my CBCS submission (which I will post tomorrow) and I told one of the workers that I vaguely recall that Warlock was appearing in an upcoming movie. I believe he said it was a New Mutants movie. My reply was that Warlock and The Silver Surfer should have been cast in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War movie as they are two of the most prominent cast members in the Infinity comic titles. He said it's probably because Fox Studios owns the rights via the X-Men and FF movies.

Okay, Fox also owns the rights to Spider-man but he is being cast in the Infinity War movie. If Marvel can cast Spider-man why can't they also cast Warlock and Surfer?... they belong in this movie!

And when was Warlock ever a deemed a mutant,... or is Fox just bastardizing his origin?

@Pre_Coder FOX doesn't own Spider-Man, SONY does.

Sony and Marvel came to a cooperative deal. Fox still refuses to play ball with Marvel.

You are correct!

That's why I'm curious as to why he is being cast as a mutant.

Fox probably bought him under the FF rights deal.

Back in the day Marvel was selling off movie rights left and right, they had no idea that the future of Hollywood would be so superhero heavy. Now that they are in the movie business, they would love to get all these rights back.

The techno organic Warlock (pictured above) was considered a mutant for his species and was a member of the New Mutants.

(Spoiler Alert)

Warlock (Adam, aka Him) was shown at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, or at least his cocoon.

It's always possible that Fox and Marvel have come to a deal and are keeping it secret. I think Fox also owned Ego and let Marvel use him.

I place the new mutants warlock in the jar jar binks category.

I hated the character, but it gives Hollywood that machine morphing fluidity of the Matrix and Terminator films that they love.

So is the Warlock appearing in the New Mutants movie going to be the one with the golden hair, red and yellow costume, and a gem on his forehead,... or the one who looks like a bionic Groot on acid?

Gotta be the techno organic Warlock, and not Adam Warlock. He was a pretty core member of the New Mutants, so there's no real problem here.

People, people.

Try not to confuse Warlock with Warlock.

Likewise, please don't confuse Nova with Nova, Gladiator with Gladiator, the Punisher with the Punisher, or the Destroyer with the Destroyer.

@robertofredrico True!

Until this thread I had totally forgotten about the bionic warlock on acid.
