My only regret is not buying a copy or two of Saga #1. I remember seeing it at my LCS the week it came out. I thought "oh that artwork is fantastic, I should buy one".

Never did it. Those sell for $150-200 all day right now.

I kick myself in the ass for not holding extremely tight to a cooy of amazibg fantasy 15 my mom sold at a garage sale in the early 90's. I was only 5 or 6 years old. My mom told me i could keep 1 comic and i was holding the comic as an older guy probably in his 60's was buying all my moms comics which i remember seeing amazing spiderman 1,2,3,6,7,9, and a few others. I also recall a butt load of tale suspsense books, richie rich books, looney tunes, human torch golden age books her uncle had given her, some captain anerica books, and casper. I remember telling her i wanted the amazing fantasy book as i loveeeeed the comic cover art and use to draw a bit myself as a kid. My mom didnt do her hw and sold most of the comics for a .25 -$1 a piece. As the older man turned to load up the comics in his car he noticed the one in my hand and kind of grabbed it out of my hand and gave my mom $5 or so for it. Till this day i still remember that moment and when i tell my mom the value of that comic she goes "shut it. I didnt know comics would be worth that" her copy wasnt a 9.0 or anything but definitely a solid 4.0 i would think. I remember chipping on the cover but dont remember any major creases or bends. I do know she kept all her comics stored pretty well in her room. Ughhhh i wish i had that book today

5 or 6 years ago, I had the opportunity to get on J. Scott Campbell's commission list....it was something like $400-600 and I thought that was way too expensive so i passed. I'd pay 3 or 4 times that amount to be on that list now.

No point in spending time on could'ves, should'ves, didn't. I would rather focus on those times I turned $1 into $500 or $92 into $1,000.

Oh I agree. I was just saying it must be nice that you have no regrets. Or not even a misstep in collecting. I wish I was that perfect.

Ought a Batman 189 and never realized it was missing a page because it didn't affect the story. Runner up is an Iron Fist 14 that graded to an 8.5. Paid $315 for it which was pricy for a raw book a couple years ago.
I also regret not buying a DD 131 when I had the chance but didn't pull the trigger. Book would have graded out 9.4 at least.

Please, there have been plenty of missteps. I got screwed big time by Danny Dupcak in the 80s... or was it the 90s?

There just isn't any point on dwelling on it. There's plenty of positive stuff to focus on that's a lot more fun. Just buy things that you enjoy at what you think is a fair price. Buying on speculation is when everything usually ends in tears.

Gerry Ross burned my butt when I mail ordered Hulk 181 from him circa 1989. Paid $150 for a near mint copy. Kept it all these years only to have it graded this year by CBCS. Came back a 4.5 with color touch. Mile High Comics burned me too. Bought a "near mint" copy of Hulk 180 from them circa 1999 for $90. Came back a 5.5 with color touch.

It's not really comic related, but it is art related. I had a chance to buy a page of "little red riding hood" storyboard artwork done by Milo Manara and I passed on it. I had extra cash in the bank at the time and I liked it. I wanted to keep it that way. As a general rule, I don't have a lot of regrets. If the price is too high, I definitely don't have regrets.

Rookies!!
In 1974, I bought Amazing Spider Man 1-15 for $50.00 (down from $100.00) and sold them for $525.00 and a complete set of RAT PATROL CARDS in 1980 (I needed to make car payments), 1976, bought Journey Into Mystery 83 (near mint) for $40.00 and that same year sold it for $80.00 and lastly in 1976, I bought 3,000 comic books for $1,000.00 or 30¢ each. One of them was X-MEN 1 which I sold for $110.00 in 1986 to goto RENO, NV and I lost it. I cry every time I think about this.
