Grading Help Needed

Seller claims VF+3510

Collector 00slim private msg quote post Address this user
I've been looking for this book in higher grade for a while. The seller claims Very Fine +, which seems about right, but I'd love some additional input.

Do they offer returns? Looks nice, maybe take a chance and buy it? Keep it if it's up to you vf standards.

Looks lice a clean, decent copy. If the price is right...

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
It could use a press but looks great otherwise.

I'm gonna press & slab it if I go for it. Does it look like an 8.5 without press?

looks like the indent on the back cover was the reason the seller listed as vf+, which is how I would describe it if this was my book and I was selling it

make a request to return the book if not satisfied, and if he agrees, then buy it

Oooooh that is really pretty Can't see if there are any spine ticks but all the defects are visible seem to be pressable

After seeing the restored Fantastic Four #52 ebay fiasco, I'd hesitate on a raw copy of anything right about now especially if there was no returns.

But I agree, if the price is right @00slim...definitely bid on it.

@DarthLego it's an auction, sadly.

Have to see where the price goes from here.

Ok. Tried to drop the hint for my wife to get me this book for my Anniversary present. She basically said she has a cooler item picked out.

Hmmmmm. Looks like I'll be putting this one on a credit card if I win it. Shhhhhh! This is between us, guys!

Been ther, done that. rare that I do, though.

It has eBay money back gaurentee too...not that it would cover you for the time it would take before learning it was restored. But at lest that would cover you from a grading perspective.

If it's on your hit list take a couple of swings at it. The book looks nice and the first man-thing is a plus. I'm curious, think I'll track it to see what it finishes out at. Me personally I like Astonishing Tales 12 better. I guess I'm not really a magazine guy.

It'a a book that goes pretty high, and has for a long time i.e. Overstreet is waaaay off on it. Even raw copies, across all grades.

A buddy of mine got $175 or so, for a raw FN+, that didn't have much in the way of pressable defects.IOW, it was a straight up 6.5 with no potential to press out past a 7.0.

My advice is to bid high, because this copy will likely grade in the NM range, after a press.

@00slim It happens , good luck on the next one and pay by credit card if not as described Ebay will try and fix it, if not fall back on the credit card company, Ebay does not want to deal with that.

@00slim sorry brother, anytime I lose like that I tell myself that the winner's max bid was at least $100 more than I was willing to pay and even if you had bid $350 you will still would have lost it.

You'll find one

If you were happy with your final bid and it didn't get it for you just means this was not the copy for you. One will show up and you will get your copy if you keep going for it.
